Todd Graham - HC of Tulsa

Before everyone starts that ..are you sick, are you kidding just take a look...

2001 - West Virginia LB coach

2002 - West Virginia co-DC

In 2005 Rice finished 1-11
In 2006 they finish 7-5 and go to their 1st bowl since 1960 under Graham who got Conf. USA Coach of the Year

In 2007 he became the HC for Tulsa
In his first season they posted a 10-4 record, took the USA West Title, played the USA C-Championship game and made it to the GMAC Bowl. There they destroyed Bowling Green 63-7. Tulsa led the nation in total offense with 543.9 ypg.

Current - 345 Passing PG and 247 Rushing PG

Before taking the HC job at Rice he was the Asst HC and DC for three seasons at Tulsa. In each of the three seasons Tulsa ranked in the Top 25 in Pass Defense. In 2005 they ranked "3rd" in takeaways and interceptions. In 2003 the defense jumped "49 spots" in total defense from the previous year ranking at 16th in pass defense.

When he became the HC for Tulsa he brought along Herb Hand and Gus Malzahn to handle co-OC duties.

Herb Hand - 17 yrs in coaching. Spent 6yrs at West Virginia as the tight ends & OL coach
Gus Malzahn - Was the OC for Arkansas in 2006. Named OC of the Year by Rivals.

Just got to remember this, everyone thought some guy named Myer was a joke coming from some medium school like Utah and before that Bowling Green.

I'm not trying to slam Graham, but everyone needs to stop comparing every mid major coach to Urban Meyer.

I thinj he might also be a decent choice. Unfortunately, so many people are looking for the "Wow!" name factor that anyone not at risk of being mobbed when seen in public is excluded from the list of names.

The "general" Al Dorsey said a couple of weeks ago on 104.5 the zone's (silly underdog picks segment) that he thinks Graham will be the choice.

Todd Graham's a good coach. He's just got a thin resume. The Tennessee job isn't the kind of gig you cut your teeth with.

You can't fire a guy with a national championship ring and go out an hire Todd Graham. UT's a big-time program - it's got to go out and get a big-time coach.

Todd Graham is a good coach and Gus Malzahn is a great offensive coordinator. Living in Northwest Arkansas I listen to thier talk shows and everybody has good things to say about Malzahn. I don't know if Graham is UT material but if he brought Malzahn with him then our offense would drastically improve.

What makes you so sure we will get a high profile coach. If Davis and Gruden decline, we are about out of high profile coaches. We certainly need some backup guys.

If graham is the hire, call me a pessimist but in 3-5 years we will be back on the boards wondering who our new coach as well as athletic director are going to be.

There is only one problem with that. Who's to say we get a high profile coach. I believe that UT deserves a high profile coach but Hamilton has to look at all the options and not just the ones that we want. I'm not on Graham's bandwagon but I think we should be realistic and realize that Gruden and Davis will probably not be here next year. I hope I am wrong but if I'm not then hiring someone like Graham might not be the end of the world.

Well one thing is a fact, he won't demand the bank. Right now he's at $1.1 mil.. I just know we are in serious need of offensive fireworks and Texas Tech, Boise St. and Tulsa are lighting them up.

No, the water out here is definately red but this house still bleeds orange.:rock:

Funny thing happened today while listening to the local sports show. They had a Wyoming reporter on today talking about the game. I never would have thought that we would sink so low that a HOG sports show dedicates a segment of their show talking about how bad we are.
