Do I or don't I? I have boat fever and am seriously considering buying my first boat. Some type of small bow rider, probably a used Glastron. Anybody have any suggestions? Buy one, don't, what brand........

I used to haul boats and I really liked Boston Whalers. They aren't the most luxurious boats, they are are practically unsinkable.

If you're handy and like working with wood, you can find and restore an old Chris Craft.

I love the old Chris Crafts but have no desire to restore one. I really just want a 17-18' later model bowrider.

OK, FV I think my leader right now is the Glastron sx175. It seems to fit all the need I have and from what I understand Glastron builds a fine entry level boat. Do you know much about them?

As a boat owner I can attest to this old line.

What are the two best days of a boat owner's life?
The day he buys his boat and the day he sells it.

Boats are great, but can also be frustrating as heck as the owner. It's much easier on the blood pressure just showing up at the lake and having someone pick you up on the dock.

I fish some, but this would not be used for it. This would be used primarily for cruising around the lake and doing some tubing and kneeboarding.

Would you rather cruise around the lake in a pontoon boat, or skim the waves in a JET BOAT!!??

JET BOAT!!!!

Well the only boat I have owned is a air boat so unless you want to move to a swamp:)

I have considered jet boats, but they don't seem to be as fuel efficient as something with a prop and seem to be more expensive for the same size hull.

That's my problem. My parents and In laws both have boats, but my dad is usually using his for Bass tournaments on the weekends and my in laws live almost 2 hours away so in order to get on the water I spend 4 hours of my day on the road.

I've had a Sea Ray Sundeck for about 3 years and have had no trouble with it, at all. Nice all-purpose setup, with room for the kids to run around, plenty of comfort features, and quite suited for pulling skiers/boarders/tubes. The only problem I've come across is getting to and staying at a "perfect" speed when wakeboarding. Sea Ray also makes some smaller, more affordable boats like a 175/185 Sport. I think they start in the mid-$20s.

I thought I had found an UNBELIEVABLE deal on a 21' Baja but it sold before I could get there. I am thinking I may just wait at this point, but then again the end of the season is the best time to get a deal.
