Ok,a little off on the topic here but Crompton had a pass that went to the Ohio band,I just wonder if it was a completion.

For the people saying that they were "no pride of the southland band". I told you so.

Just keep giving me the POTSB pregame with the opening of the "T" every week and I'll always be very happy with our band. All that halftime stuff is just playtime.

Also remember that the members of the Pride are full time students, many of them very successful students at that, with many other commitments that don't include marching for drunk fans at half-time. With three outdoor rehearsals and one indoor, it poses a huge challenge to each member of the band. Not only is there a new show for each home game, there's a new visiting school's fight song to memorize. Take into account last week, where Saturday afternoon rehearsal was rained out before the game and the band marched in unfamiliar uniforms with the rain jackets, a slack in performance where even the band wasn't excited about their show shouldn't surprise you.
The band works very hard each week to stay worthy of the name "Pride of the Southland," but it's hard to excite some of the least motivated fans in the SEC. Unless it's some ghetto ass-slapping festival, the students don't care. Notice how the older fans appreciated, they weren't excited... because the show WAS slow, a musical icon of an older generation.
The band is filled with some of the hardest working people in the school and coming out each week with a new show, while simultaneously learning different shows, is a task that should not be bashed. It's a group of students that come out every halftime to a field that USUALLY just got stomped on by the visiting team and are expected to give their all to fans who are sitting there boo-ing their own quarterback.
No matter how bad the season is, the band doesn't stop working. Give them respect.

We came there to watch a freaking FOOTBALL game, not the band. Without the football team, there is no band. So deal with it.

Are you saying that 100K people are drunk; or that the band only plays for the drunk ones?

I'm saying the majority of the ones that disrespected the band immediately after the halftime performance with ignorant statements were drunks that probably couldn't tell the difference between our team and theirs. It's rude. Comment with clear criticism as most on here have and you'll get respect. Curse and make less-than funny jokes after the performance and you'll get none. Nobody in the band has a problem with criticism of last week's show. Everybody knows it had no energy and wasn't meant to be as entertaining as Ohio's performance. They've moved on. Jazz show and Circle Drill. Those as well as Pregame are being worked on in rehearsal this week and its degrading when the people complaining were the ones that were drunk anyway. The band plays for the sober people that at least appreciate the work.

Another thought... If the POTS is so bad, why do 30k people still show up for the Salute to the Hill? I remember the deluge of nasty phone calls and letters the one time we didn't do the Salute routine (at UTPD's request). It was amazing.

For every negabandvol person here there are hundreds who are proud of what the kids do week in and week out. It might not be perfect and it might not be the catharsis some seek, but it makes this alumnus proud. Pride!

I'm curious as to who you are...
What year are you?

I love football. My band kids need someone to work for them after college.

Right, because since your kids are in the band and I'm not means that I'll be working for them. Not likely. Boy you sure are arrogant for someone who comes to the game just for the band...

A). You'd be surprised the number of Fortune 500 CEOs that have had formal music training. Its a very high percentage

B) Every college student out there, from the quarterback to the trainer to the dance squad member to the baton twirler deserves to have someone there because they are proud of them. Altruism isn't a trait shown by many anymore.

C) I proudly support the team even though my attendance priority isn't necessarily the game itself. I know the work put into every aspect of the game environment; all involved are worthy of our support.

D). Check the thread and see where the first signs of arrogance started. It wasn't with the band members, that's for sure.

This is completely incorrect. But it's nice to see that you judge that which you don't know.
Ash was in band in the mid 90s, now he's a Band director in Jeff County. He gave his all for Tennessee when he was here.
Sorry Ash, I just couldn't let him rip you like that.
