It wasn't just close to home and NIL mattered. But most of these kids are going to consider multiple things when choosing their school. A big part and maybe the biggest is the relationships they develop with coaches, staff members, players, and other commits.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he did and it was a huge turn off because at that point, he hadn’t taken all his visits yet.

Pretty sure they were the favorite at that point too. He did us a favor by being his usual dimwitted shortsighted Self.

'96 Citrus Bowl. It was the 95 season but was on Jan 1. If there are degrees of wetness that's the most wet I've ever been at a game. Ponchos were useless. They had the same mentality then. No way we could beat the vaunted Eddie George after having just come off the Heisman Trophy award. Yet, all we did was hold them to a season low in rushing yards. Don't remember the number but it was way below their average.

If not for Steve Spurrier we could have played for a national title that year. Don't think we could have beaten Nebraska that year though. That team was sick.

Eddie George got Jay Grahamed. Loved it. Bill Duff pulled a Sam Huff on Eddie too. Good times.

As a lowly fan with no insider access to the behind the scenes activities, I get the impression that we may be in a golden age of The Real UT athletics. Tony and Rick seem to have it together and from my outsider view looking in, it would seem the football program is in great hands. Top notch admin, great NIL program and booster support, great coaching and support staff and organized, competitive, smart, hard working and relentless recruiting head coach and assistants. We may finally have the whole package in place to do some great things. I think the fact that the assistants seem to be happy and aren’t looking to leave unless a big move up comes along says a lot about the state of the football program. The only thing left is to prove they can consistently win games against the big boys and return to big boy status again where we belong.
My suppressed BVS says keep my head on a swivel to watch for something awful to happen, but daily prayer seems to help. Having the world’s best message board and world’s best fans makes it easy to be a fan of the Large Orange. GBO.

Ha. Duff was the business. He was around some of the activities when we started (or restarted) FCA on campus in the 90s. Good times indeed. Really enjoyed his History channel show.

The fact that OSU was willing to pay a freshman more than the rest of the OL already on campus should cause some problems for the coaching staff. "Where's my money?" is a question that will need to be answered.

I've always thought that was/is an irrelevant stat because it focusses on losing vs. winning. No one sits around bragging that they've "only" lost 7 games but never 8.
