This brings up a question. I've noticed that on here people use the word imma instead of I'm gonna. I assume that that is a shorthand that originally came from texting because I have never heard anybody say Ima or I'mma. Another of those words is hella instead of helluva. Are these contractions ever voiced or are they just text lingo?

Both schools have proud traditions, represent their state well, have thousands of fans that live for every Saturday of football season, even if they've never set foot in a stadium to watch the team play, and the schools are located in similar mountain settings. These are the reasons I attended and love both schools, and why I proudly sing both "Rocky Top" and "Country Roads" and get chills every time.

My only regret is that I had to give up my tickets to this game after having achilles tendon surgery, and I won't be able to sing one or both songs live in Charlotte, but I hope whoever wins, it will be a well played game by both teams, and that the final score is 31-30 with the victor kicking a last second field goal.

I respect what they're saying. When Tennessee wins, the response should be hilarious. That's a quality bit of trash talk though.

So, have I got this right....after we score and at other times to get the place shaking, we play Rocky Top but when or if they score they place country roads....wow...what a snoozer...what was this thread about?

Strange how much they know about our team. I know nothing about their team. All I know is if we beat them Saturday they could be in suicide watch.

Just to clarify, "Country Roads" is not WVU's fight song. Just like "Rocky Top", it has been part of the pregame show at WVU since the early 70s during which the "Pride of West Virginia" marching band forms an outline of the state. It is considered the theme song/anthem of the state. After the team scores, the band plays "Fight Mountaineers" followed by "Hail West Virginia", which are the WVU fight song/school song respectively. If WVU wins at Mountaineer Field, the John Denver version of "Country Roads" is played while the fans, players, etc.
sing the lyrics in honor of the state, the victory, and the team. As a former member of the WVU marching band, and huge fan of the "Pride of the Southland", both schools are steeped in history and tradition, and when I attend games at either stadium, I refuse to miss pregame or postgame traditions of either school!!!

If any of you are interested, here is the WVU pregame from 2016, but the only thing that has changed in decades are the uniform designs and the people wearing them!!!

I was hoping to find that one. While I was not there, I remember hearing a bootleg of the show not long after.
