Offsides Penalty on 1st Onside Kick (Pic)

This. Kirk thought the same.

The offsides wasn't announced since the ruling on the field was illegal touching by us. Mizzou would have declined the offsides and taken the ball from the illegal touching. They reviewed it, and got the call right, but the offsides was then a factor. The flag was clearly thrown by the ref standing on our sideline, so it was called just not announced

Honestly, we should not have been in a position to be ONSIDE KICKING! We had great field position all night but could not do crap with the ball. The onside kick is irrelevant but I agree with you on the call.

Well judging by that pic, by the time his foot would have hit the ball the fourth guy from the bottom would easily be across the 35.

We played a good game there at the end. If only the OC would have made the adjustments at half that he made at the end of the game we could have easily won. But he didn't and we kept on running plays that developed too slow and Dobbs didn't have time to think so......

It's always the coaches fault isn't it? Mizzo showed they are a good team. Dobbs didn't have us best game. And then WR's dropped at least 4 passes. The defense missed tackles and had several pass interference calls against them. Then on top of that we got the ball with a chance to tie the game and the refs missed the call. Get a clue.

Why even review illegal touching if we was offsides in the first place? Seems they should have just said, offsides lets re-kick.

Because if there was an illegal touch, Mizzou automatically got the ball and would decline the offsides. If there wasn't an illegal touch they'd take the penalty and rekick.

They did not call offsides after the review. Flag for offsides was thrown on original play. But the illegeal touch was announced by the official because that was the penalty that would be accepted by Mizzou. Offsides without illegeal touching would have resulted in another kick. Flag was thrown for offsides BEFORE the replay.

Then it was a bad call.

You would think offsides would be easily reviewable. Pretty easy call to make with replay.

Nobody until the refs realized that a Mizzou player touched the ball and we recovered. That penalty was created in the replay booth.

Even the retired referee talking head that was explaining the rule mentioned that the offsides was not the call under review.

The Refs blew the call. First the flag was thrown for offsides. I didn't see a second flag for what they called which was illegal touching. When he anounces the illegal touching he didn't say two penalties he just said illegal touching with only one flag that I could see from my seat. Both appear to have been wrong.

On the second one the ball clearly didn't go 10 yards so no idea why we chalenge it. Because that TO was our only chance to get the ball back.

Bottom line is we played conservative football and it cost us. I assume it's because we have lost so many starters he just played it close to the vest. Another one that got away.

I am not arguing that we were offsides. Replay and pics show we were not. I am just explaining to these people acting like idiots that they did not all the offsides as a result of the replay. That is not even allowed.

Sorry but this makes zero sense. Maybe we shouldn't have been in that position. But we were. It is the refs job to get calls right.

They do not throw a flag for illegal touching.

My question is this. Why did the ref's not call two penalties. Thats what they always do when there are two penalties. I feel like we got hosed on that one.

There's no flag for an illegal touch. They throw the beanbag and give the receiving team the ball at the spot. It works like a downed punt.

A good ref would have said there were 2 fouls on the play and said offside is declined and illegal touching is accepted and the play is under review but when you have officials that aren't full time like all of college football you don't have the precision of the professional refs

I just don't get how you can't review an offside on a kickoff it's a clear line striped all the way across the field

You can't review it that's why it wasn't reviewed. They reviewed the illegal touching when that was overturned they stuck us with offsides. Which wasn't ever called before the review at least not anounces by ref.

Thy flagged offsides immediately. They just didn't announce it.
