Officiating, and why bias may work for us

As far as I know Jimbo is not a philandering alky with a recreational drug use issue.

Could be wrong, but I have heard good things about him as a human being. He is also not a guy who thinks spending time with your family means press conferences trotting them out and then ignoring them the rest of the year.

Right ... you know about as much as a doorknob.

Someone finally had the cahones to mention gambling & officiating.

You can mention that but I'm sure it gets little attention. I mean, everything in this world is fair and even where money is involved, isn't it? If it wasn't, we might have to invent locks and pass laws against bribery and such. :)

Please...officiating had nothing to do with the game today. Michigan State beat us. No shame in admitting that.

Look to me what beat us was our Big Guy Williams couldn't get the ball in under the goal. Oh well, he played great otherwise. Great run, I'm very proud to be a Vol.

Read the threads, whats with the bama guy? They don't play basketball anymore.

Also how can you attack the football coach out of our basketball team doing the best ever?

It'll bother you more if you go back and watch Bobby Maze's last shot as a Vol. The MSU big -- instead of keeping his arms straight-up like Brian Williams did on the last play -- leaned his arms over Maze as he tried to shoot the layup under the basket and made contact with both of Maze's arms. It was clearly a foul and with Maze shooting FTs, that is 2 points.

I think it is fitting that our season ends on incompetent officiating. The NCAA needs to do something, but as long as Coaches grin and bear it, they won't do a thing.

Wisevol,

If UT gets Selby and Harris, I think both will be All SEC first team next year and I think they will get tons of calls. Bruce has never been a ref favorite even when at high school games, but he will also if we go back to his press defense become a big gambling favorite next year.

I agree with you that we were screwed versus MSU, but how could you expect anything else? If we play Izzo, or Duke, or UNC we will have to play well enough to overcome ref bias. I think if we sign Selby, we will be a team with calls going our way every SEC game next year except KY and UF and Vandy on the road.
