I'm cautiously optimistic, too. Thing that I keep telling myself, is if we had hired Butch 3 years ago instead of Dooley, the majority on here would've been excited for the hire; up-and-coming coach, won his conference 4 out of 6 years.

But the version of an "up-and-comer" we got was Dooley and he failed. Miserably. And with Butch being somewhat of a no-name when we hired him, we all kind of got that same feeling we did with Dooley.

Im all in on Butch! He is a Damn coach! We landed 10 4* recruits yesterday. That's pretty Damn good. Im just ready to see the product on the field. We wont win a lot of games this year but there will be a noticeable difference. No going to locker room at half with 2 timeouts in his pocket. No kicking field goals when down by 35. No moral victories!

Urban still would have beaten Dooley in the recruiting battle. The other factors--league, rebuilding, nc hopes, etc--don't change and he would have made the same decision. If its a business decision now, its a business decision again for a kid who is thinking and planning in that direction.
I have no idea why Dooley didn't recruit him. Makes no sense. Kid still wants the easy road and that's the main factor. They said it themselves.

Just got back from the luncheon. All the coaches spoke. Did you know our dl coach coached the starting 4 dl of the Denver Broncos? Also, we signed 8 players that were committed elsewhere. They are also recruiting tn harder with more coaches.
Also said our aero eng dept presented to Dobbs and family and it helped seal the deal.

And he promised that they will play D that makes us proud.
