Coastal Honduras is bad. Trash from there will make its way up to Southern Belize and will end up on the beaches. I have swam through and around piles of trash. Go out on a boat and you go through huge lines of floating trash. Disreputable ships will dump as well.

There was a massive drug lord shootout/execution battle just down the road from where we stayed in Guatemala a few months after we were there.

This looks eerily familiar to the back of a gas station I used to know in Ky. Owner sold pill, pot, and alcohol from the back. It had one of the best pool tables in the county though.
