Shocked that so many of you are so confident that the Vols are going to beat Michigan!

We will have to shoot and rebound well to have a shot, our defense will have to have a good game too. No freaking 82% shooting in the 2nd half.

San diego state a no. 2 seed in the west? Coach K must have smiled when he saw that. Can say that I've seen them, but my bet is that they are one of the weaker 2 seeds in a number of years. As for us, we'll have to play well to win game one and then hope that coach K and three of duke's starters get chicken pox or somesuch...And it'll be in charlotte, too...

SDST almost got a 1 seed. Deserved it in my opinion. They will be in final 4. BOOK IT.

How deep is Michigan? anyone know their starting 5?

They primarily have an 8-man rotation.

STARTERS:
G - Tim Hardaway Jr.
G - Darius Morris
G - Stu Douglass
F - Jordan Morgan
F - Zak Novak

Hardaway and Morris are primary scorers. I saw Hardaway at Arby's Classic...he is a player. Novak can get hot beyond the arc as well.

ive watched michigan play dozens of times this yr....they are unathletic, small, slow, etc but they dont beat themselves on the court...heres my scouting report

1) we stop darius morris from getting in the paint, hes a physical guard who LOVES to go right and kick the ball out for the 3

2) tim hardaway jr is a streaky player but can go off on you at any time...he is tall, long, and can create his own shot but josh bone should be able to handle him

3) zach novak and stu douglass can only shoot 3s

4) mich has one low post presence in jordan morgan who is an avg big that has some upside...brian williams should easily be able to manhandle down low tho

michigan lives and dies by the 3, we contain that and we should destroy them

"Dozens of times"?? Just how many games did UM play this year? Nothing like seeing cred lost in the first sentence of a post.

Beilein has lived and died by the three his whole career. He'll be the first to tell us that.

I m just as worried about michigan as would be about duke in the next round. Beeline runs one of the best zone defenses in the nation and with the way we shoot the 3, makes me a little worried.

Unless Pitsnogle, Gansey, and Herbert show up in Michigan uniforms, I'm not terribly concerned.

His game is more about which Vol team shows up. Sadly, the vast majority of ours have been.

4-7 in our last 11 games. They have 5 three point shooters that shoot over 36 percent. We aren't going to win this game. This team is lethargic in our half court offense and our shot selection and three point percentage is pathetic. I really hope I am wrong, then again I don't because Duke will absolutely destroy us.

Well, the Vols get a chance to beat the Wolverines in 2 sports. We've done it in football, now let's do it in basketball. Vols need to do better than 48% from the field and hit 75% from the charity stripe. GO VOLS! Beating Duke is another story. The Vols have to play their best game of the season, providing we beat the Wolverines, to make it to the sweet 16. Can Memphis beat Arizona? If not, then it's Arizona vs. Texas and the Longhorns are not playing well. In the upper bracket, it looks like Kentucky will have to make it past Ohio State to make the sweet 16. Will it beat the Heels vs. Ohio State or against the Cats? West VA won't make the sweet 16. The Gators may have to play BYU to make the sweet 16. That should be a good matchup. I'll be pulling for the Cougars in that one. Will more than 1 top seed make it to the Final 4? I'll be surprised if anyone from outside the 5th seed makes it to the elite 8. Would like to see the Vols there but I think their chances are slim. No game is easy and don't take any opponent lightly. One bad night and it's "go home." Which Vols team will show up against Michigan? The one who went 7-0 at the beginning of the season or the one who lost easy wins along the way? This team has me puzzled to say the least. I just hope the make the 2nd round. Won't be easy the way they've been playing lately.
We have played Michigan in basketball before.

As a UT and U of M fan I've seen all but a few of Michigan's games this year. Their starting lineup is this:

PG - Darius Morris. He's pretty exceptional and he's great at ball distribution. He's not a deep threat (27% from three) and he only takes one or two per game. Excellent at getting to the line. Driving inside could cause problems for BW/Fields/etc. in terms of fouls down low. Wants you to get the **** off his court, according to Kalin Lucas.
SG - Tim Hardaway Jr. Fan favorite. Freshman. Best deep threat on the team and he takes a lot of them (6 per game). Played a big part in Michigan's 8-3 run over the last 11 Big Ten games. Hasn't had a game without double figures in two months. OK defender, but his offense has way more upside.
SF - Stu Douglass. White, and I mean WHITE. Not a great offensive threat. If he's shooting, it's likely from three. Good defender. Good on the boards from time to time. Assuming he's going up against Scotty, expect Douglass to be physical and use his body to keep Hopson from driving.
PF - Zack Novak. Also a fan favorite. "Zack NOOOOOOOOOOOOOVAK with a three-pointer!" Also shoots a lot of threes. Despite being 6' 4", an exceptional rebounder for his size. Probably Michigan's best on-ball defender. Fouling him isn't suggested (83% from the line). Turnovers from Novak are rare.
C - Jordan Morgan. Freshman. Probably the most improved player for Michigan this season. Started off as nothing but an alright guy down low, but has evolved into a good post scorer. About the only player on the team who doesn't shoot threes. Good rebounder, although Novak is better. Like most bigs, not a good ball handler - expect at least a couple turnovers from him.

Bench:

PF/C - Evan Smotrycz. Freshman. Started for a while, then replaced by Douglass. Is good at threes for some reason. Not a bad rebounder, but Brian Williams could handle him in that department. Good defender.
G - Matt Vogrich. Nothing really unusual about him except that's he not bad. Good deep threat. Good enough defender, although he's nothing memorable.
PF/C - Jon Horford. I don't expect Michigan to go this deep, but if they do, he'll only get PT if Novak and Morgan are in foul trouble. Good rebounder. Not really an offensive threat.

As always, expect Michigan to take a lot of threes. Should be a good game, as are most of the 8/9s.

out of the number 1 seeds would play duke over all of them... rather of gotten the 10 seed and play 7 n 2 though... got a decent draw imo
