Official Statement from UT on the AD Position

Smart, intelligent, experienced coaches WILL want to know who the AD is that they will be coming to work under.

This drawn out moronic ignorance DOES have a negative effect on buTch and his ability to hire a OC and other staff members.

A lame duck AD in place now and not knowing who the next AD will be DOES seriously reduce the list of people for the OC position or other serious coaching positions buTch may be wanting to negotiate hiring.

Hello, this is buTch Jones at Tennessee...

Sorry buTch, I have no interest at any program where I won't know who my real boss will be, thanks for calling, Bye.

This long delay is definately making our BoT and Admin look like incompetent morons all across the nation and the press is loving it.

VFL...GBO!!!

If CBJ wins the Vandy and SCe games, and especially even the TA&M games, and many prospective coaches probably wouldn't even give it much of a 2nd thought ("yeah sure Butch, I know you've got this man / the AD will be great, but I'm working for you man").

Oh well, here we are.

Meanwhile, in Tuscaloosa, their AD announced his retirement on Sunday night and he introduced the new AD in person this morning to the Alabama coaches and staffs.....4 days later.

He was retiring effective within 4 to 6 weeks. They had to have a replacement right away. Very different situation than most want to ignore.

And I suspect they had been working on the replacement for months and just had not released anything about it.

A procurement process for a search firm. This University is comprised of morons.

Not really all large organizations use a procurement process and search firms. and If you need one you use a procurement process to obtain one. That is just how it works.

Good point. So why announce Hart's retirement 10 months before it happened? The powers at be at UT could ***** up a wet dream!

Say! Dave blackburn he's the man!
I do! I like him, sam-i-am!
And i would hire him in a boat.
And i would hire him with a goat...
And i would hire him in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
He is so good, so good, you see!
So i would hire him in a box.
And i would hire him with a fox.
And i would hire him in a house.
And i would hire him with a mouse.
And i would hire him here and there.
Say! I will hire him anywhere!
I do so like dave blackburn, man!

Curious. Don't get laid much?

Oooooh Noooooo

Cheeks gonna stay indefinite as Davenport got her fill of southern redneck hillbillys from reading VN an declined the Chancellor job. But now Depietro an Cheek are facing off on who should AD. AND since Derek Dooley has been a head coach in the SEC AND an AD there are movers and shakers trying to bring Dooley back as AD. THAT puts a crimp in everything from all new assistants to the OC.

Howzat? Be fun? :)

That was almost as dumb as the post you responded to.

On another note, nothing new, but damn. Fans of other schools are pretty much non-existent, they got nothing to say that ain't already been said.

Since we aren't hiring anyone in the next 2 weeks it really doesn't matter to me. Might as well take their time at this point. Done following this process. Like waiting for a hot pocket to cook in the microwave. It will eventually get done, just gotta walk away for a bit

Something to look forwrd to: National Signing day, UT AD signing day, spring ball, long summer w/ college satellite radio chatter, fall season.

It doesn't rhyme. Not impressed.

"Dr. Davenport arrives on Feb. 15
to begin serving as UT Knoxville’s chancellor.

She said that filling the AD
is now her top priority.
This new AD will serve as a member
On the cabinet of the chancellor.

Dr. Davenport has emphasized
that the best person must be recognized.

The university is in a mess
Creating a new procurement process;
To hire a search firm to help with the search
And hope to not leave them all in a lurch.

Once that process concludes, UT will release
information about the firm (Big Jim to please).

At that time, the campus will also announce
The members of the search committee and pounce
(Like a cat) to provide a tentative plan
for the search process (which finally began!).

We hope to announce these details soon.
(Before the cat can fly to the moon.)
Afterward the search committee, and the firm which we choose,
will begin working together on a search that can't lose.

Dave Hart continues to serve as the AD,
for the Knoxville campus, with his usual glee.

His retirement date is June 30, 2017.
(At which time he departs the UTK scene.)

(Meanwhile the days continue to mount
All payments to be made to his checking account.)

Hope you are happier with it now:).

No. It just gets old watching people concoct scenarios in their minds and freak out.

Don't disagree with you but it doesn't change the fact that they have really screwed this up.. Not sure they could mess it up worse if they tried to..

Business version of the Keystone Cops... It's comical (cue Benny Hill soundtrack)...

How happy is Butch that VN venom is pointed in another direction, even if temporarily.

Yes it is. Certainly not as bad as some make it out to be.

Thanks for the heads up.

Probably, but what does "okie dokie" mean to you?
