The fact of his arrest likely means the course to be followed is now largely out of the athletic department's control. The misdemeanor is unlikely to be simply dismissed no matter what the GF says now. If he is well represented, if he has no record of similar conduct, and if the GF is cooperative, the charge will most likely be diverted and dismissed in the future assuming no further incidents occur while he's waiting for a final disposition and after he participates in some combination of counseling, public service and/or payment of costs. Right now, I'd bet his suspension will last a lot longer than one week. Missing games will be irrelevant to the problem.
The alleged vocal threat will almost certainly be handled by UT disciplinary authorities and there is no telling what will happen. If it is corroborated there is a significant chance he will face expulsion or at least suspension from school. It's unlikely that he really meant it, if he said it, but in this day and time everyone in government and academia are walking on egg shells. I doubt any administrator is going to say "no problem."
The lesson to be learned by other similarly situated young players, who I hope are watching, is, don't get into a situation that has any chance of getting out of hand. When chaos starts, walk--run-- the H*** away before you risk ruining your immediate future when you cannot control your temper---whether your reaction is "justified" or not, it is not worth the risk.
