Official SDV Move Back to Tennessee Countdown Thread

Putting serious consideration in to Franklin for my next move.

If my lilSongstress hits the music biz as planned, I will be her tour manager (seriously) so we may move that way to make life easier. And because we would be part of the "beautiful people club".

BUT, if my oldest gets into Vet School at UT, we will just stay in Rednecksville and commute til she is done with school.

crazy lil life right now.

Lol where is Rednecksville

Cookeville.

Not saying there is anything wrong with "redneck", but when it is all you have to offer, it gets a little old after a while.

(some great people in this town, but that is a small percentage of the people I have met)

I had friends that went to TTU and told me that it was extremely boring there

TTU is the only thing this town has that keeps it from falling off the map.

Most of our foster kids come from either Crossville or McMinnville. And those are exactly what Cookeville would be without TTU. Just a place to hang out (cook some meth) and get in trouble.

I graduated from TTU and I thought it was a nice town. Dry, but nice. Road trips to Waynesboro for liquor and party at the Moose Lodge. You just gotta know where to go. Also, the frats always had good parties if you had connections to some rent-a-friend insiders.
Cummings Falls and Burgess Falls were always good party spots and swimming holes. Window Cliffs for nice hiking and views and spelunking some cool caves.:salute:

Now that it is no longer a dry town, the Waynesboro Moose Lodge is probably not getting as much business. (I grew up playing baseball for the Moose Lodge back home. WOOT!)

Tech is a suitcase college. Kids come for the week, and head back home for the weekends (most of them). Great school for certain majors, and just a place to be for others.

Not bashing it, but we were not born here so most locals think we do not belong here. It has been tough at times.

My lilSongstress noticed the other day that when her little video hit the intrawebs, her facebook traffic spiked with people who wanted nothing to do with her the past few years. Now they want to be part of the rise to the top. Hangers-on sorta peeps.

EDIT: not saying she is ever going to make it to the top, just sayin folks sure dont want anything to do with an outsider until they think that the outsider can do something for THEM.

I was considered to be a little of both back home. Down here I am not really either of the two.

Bill, you are experiencing the exact same thing I get here. You are a Gator in TN and I am a VOL in FL. Not a lot of love floatin' around. I grew up on the east side of Knoxville so I was used to the small town feel. Plus I didn't go home but maybe every couple of months. Just to get some home cooking mostly.:good!:

I grew up in Michigan, so Im a Yankee Gator in TN. There are a lot of Gators in this area. Most folks in Rednecksville arent smart enough to get into UT, so they cling onto a rival to make themselves feel better about it. (bammers and gators are most popular) I cant hang with folks like that. hahaha.

My kid loves what UT is doing for her, but hates being that far from her mom and pop. Looking at getting some work in Knoxville so I can spend a couple nights there, have dinner with the kid, and make her feel a little less homesick. Rowing keeps her pretty busy, not much time for her to get back home. Would be nice for both of us to get some time together during the school year.

But Nashville is chasing my other daughter pretty hard, so Im not sure how long I will last in Knoxville with all that is needed in Nashville. But those are good decisions to have to make
