Plenty of coaches would be an improvement, but he would be far from a home run hire. And if people didn't like Martin's personality, they're not going to like Byrd much. He's hardly exciting.

Is Hart going to go after Marshall or wimp out and simply focus on a youngish mid-major guy?

The guy is 60 years old! That is not an age factor! He is also 689-356 in his entire coaching career. The reason he is still at Belmont is because he wants to be at Belmont. Remind you of any other mid major coaches who are quite happy where they are? Tennessee would have a hard time recruiting him!! Belmont has perennially been able to play with the big boys! They beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill last year. They beat Stanford at Stanford the previous season. They lost to Duke by 1 point the season before that. And you say he can't coach in the SEC???

Like I've said, everyone wants to point to beating a couple big schools, why are you leaving off all the bad losses every year?

He's better than Martin period. You can't spell Martin without NIT. We could also get him for a good price, which may be attractive.

recruiting in basektball isnt nearly as important as you guys seem to think. only have to put 5 on the floor. just get 1 top 150 player a year and you have more than enough to win it all. i know it makes for entertainment following teenager tweets and biting your nails but nearly every year theres a couple teams in elite 8 without a 4+ star on their roster
