*****Official Pick the Score Contest: Appalachian St.

It's always tough to predict...They return essentially the same team this year so they are experienced and won 11 games last year. Appy State had over 200 rushing against Clemson last year but only had 30 yards rushing in the first half (and that includes a 25 run from their own 20 with less than a minute and Clemson in a prevent)...so when the money is on the line, I don't know how well they will be able to run...they also only completed 9 of 28 pass attempts...But, three first half interceptions were killers...still I don't see Appy getting more than 2 scores...14 points...they might try to run something to trick our new safeties but talent is tough to trick...

Defensively, they allowed Clemson 140 yards rushing (3.2/attempt) but 250 passing...

I'm sure they will play the run very hard but a lot folks did that last year and we still averaged 225 yards per game...even without big explosive plays, I think we can lean on them and grind out 225 on the ground...but AK's speed is something Apply hasn't seen and along with Dobbs, I'm expecting a few long runs...also think they will tire of taking Hurd and he will have some longer runs as the game goes on...so I'm guessing we go over 300 rushing...

Our staff will want to get Dobbs throwing comfortable pases to help get him on track but I also expect some vertical routes...our receivers should be able to get some separation and allow Dobbs easier throws...we should go over 200 passing...

That's five or six scores plus we should get a special teams and/or defensive score so I think we score around 41 points...

Vols 41
Appy State 14

Hurd will have about 125 before he's pulled for backups...

Hurd runs for 145.

Bonus Prediction: There are at least 10 threads next week calling the season a disaster bc we "only" beat App by 29...
