You can't always just look at the score. Clemson won 41-10 last year, but the game was much closer than that. Clemson was up 3-0 at the end of 1. App State started to drive the ball down the field well and Lamb threw an interception inside Clemson's 15. Lamb then went on to throw 2 more interceptions within about 5 minutes. Without those 3 interceptions, Clemson would have won by a couple of scores.

App State is as good running the ball as BG was throwing the ball last year and App State's defense is much, much better than BG's.

No offense, but that is just an assumption. There is no way to know exactly what would have happened without those INTs. You can't just assume APSU would have scored a TD on those 3 possessions w/o the INTs. But the fact is, INTs do count. Clemson has a good defense, and that good defense made those INTs against an overmatched APSU offense. And I'm not taking anything away from APSU. They are a good program for their level, but if UT executes then APSU should not stay in the ball game.
