Official OC search update thread...

Why? Are you Stewie with a time machine? I believe we will begin our own streak vs fla regardless of the OC.

No KB is like me, there is absolutely no reason to say our losing streak to UF will end. We have been saying it for years. It's going to take actually doing it.

No sense in crapping in your own hat and calling it a loss before it happens. Fla has their own issues. I for one think this streak is about to become to an abrupt end. I know we actually need to do it to say it's over. But I think regardless of who we get as oc, it's over this time. Yall can be whooped puppies if you choose, I still have some fight left in me. I bet that young but experienced team we have does too.

His system was just flawless at Auburn.

Tubby at auburn wasn't sold on going to the spread. He had only been at auburn 6 mos when tubby gave up on the new offensive scheme, the team had not had time for the radically different offense.
What you clearly missed is that he took it to cal and has had amazing results including a top 10 offense last year who's numbers destroyed ours and did so with lower average recruiting numbers..
Let that sink in!he is considered one of the originators of the modern spread offense and actually has a clinic to teach other schools and players how to run it.
I think he is the very best fit possible.
Oh and he is currently coaching football!
And by the way he also is 15 min from Oakland stadium where Butch just left.....
Let's hope he was interviewed!

Have a friend in the fold of the search that says an offer has been accepted and an announcement will come today. Don't check my stats, just letting out what I've been told

SIAP but I was wondering if anyone else had heard Canada's name being thrown around.

Why Matt Canada Is Perfect Fit to Be Tennessee's New Offensive Coordinator | Bleacher Report
I like that prospect, but my favorite group would be, in order:

1) Meacham TCU curb-stomped the same Ole Miss team that thumped us this year. Beat Oklahoma, and Baylor too. Did so with less overall talent (although their OL was pretty massive). I don't think TCU's success will outweigh the potential to come here and win an SEC Championship and a spot in the NC Playoffs

2) Bill Legg: Probably runs the most prolific offense of any candidate on the list. I don't care that it's Marshall. They could have given us a rough game if we played them this past year.

4) Rod Smith: Worked with Butch under Rich Rod, put up some big numbers at WVU and AZ under RR.

Got no problem with any of those guys. I like Norvell too but it seems he is too expensive.

SIAP but it's being reported on TOS that an announcement might not come until after signing day.

Could it possibly mean the guy Butch wants is going to wait until then out of respect to that program and not mess up their class?

Smith is probably the only one that is semi realistic. I actually like that idea as well.

Brice said Legg wasn't even a contender. I don't think Meachem was even considered either.

That's a distinct possibility. Especially if it's someone like Rod Smith, who worked with Butch under Rich Rod (and is still with RR at Zona).

The reason I don't think Meacham is a stretch is they have dual O coordinators (him and Cumbie), and those that discount him simply do so because of TCU's success this year and projection for next year. Problem with that line of thinking is they forget that we pulled in a Top 5 class last year and are doing it again this year.

We will be loaded at most every position, and picked by many to win the SEC E. That's just one game away from a NC playoff spot. I don't see TCU having any easier path to that destination than we will have....if he is as good as we suspect.

I think the salaries for coaches are getting way out of hand in general, but that's the game right now. Winners pay for winning coaches. Tennessee pays for affordable hires and calls it the right fit.

Well they did enquire with Norvell and now are about to interview Helton today. Both of those are big ticket guys so maybe we get surprised. Canada is also to an extent a higher money guy or would be if we got him away from NC State.
