People say that this Helfrich thing was just a rumor, but I really think it was close to a deal. 2 things had to happen.
1. DeBord would have to retire, step down, get fired, or get another job to open up the OC position. Check yes.
2. Chip Kelly needed to stay at 49ers and/or retain his staff. Check no.

Now with Helfrich pulling out, CBJ seems to be scrambling for options.

So how does the #2 impact Buthc and Helfrich situation ? Chip Kelly hasn't been hired at any place yet as head coach. If you are right, seems like Helfrich is putting all his eggs in one basket (Chip Kelly).
Helfrich is in prime position to come to UT and showcase his talent in SEC. He will land another HC gig in year or two.
Your #2 doesn't make sense. While I agree Helfrich is now an option off the table per multiple sources (all media outlets like Jimmy Hyams, John Brice and SecCountry.com )

He could be scrambling. But if we look on the sunny side then Butch may may end up poaching a solid hire. Once you crack into it you realize it's not overly hard. All these possibilities have me fried though

Somebody told me they heard on a Knoxville radio station that Helfrich is no longer being considered. Has anyone heard anything like that?

Footballscoop.com (FS) is really good too, I've gone to both websites for years and it seems FS is always a little better than coachingsearch (cs). CS has had to backtrack a few move times and FS seems to wait to confirm before reporting.

That means you are a pro style offensive guru, which wouldn't fit Butch's system. I have a lot of spread experience playing NCAA, I would be a better fit.
