Official North Carolina vs. Tennessee - Music City Bowl thread

Haha sorry for trying to defend MY coach for making a call that I agree with. I wasn't correcting your grammar, I was simply trying to help you see that our coach isn't the idiot you are trying to make him out to be. People like you get on here and completely spew trash about a man that in my opinion is doing about all he can do to help this program get back to where we used to be. WOW!

Dear VolNation,

I haven't been here in a while, but I wanted to express my sincere empathy to y'all for last night's game. I was horrified by the deluge of "every damn thing that could go wrong, did" occurrences. I'm not a Vol, and I just kept yelling "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!" I felt so badly for those young men out there. Please accept this Sooner fan's heartfelt condolences. May you kick major six next season. Good luck and God bless you, Vols.

P.S. My normal shout-out and hugs to the Marines and other troops on here! :)

TCU was in just about the same boat, what did they do, GOT A FIRST DOWN...and WON the game...Hook, Line and sinker...:dance2:

Yup....they know they have to convert...I hope Dooley was watching.

QB was a class act as well during the interview...nice to see.

Wow. What a finish. Sucks to leave the game in the hands of the officials but that is what happened and well, you know how that turned out.

Maybe your AD should revisit playing UNC next year or soon there after.

Go Heels!

We tried . . . you guys wouldn't move the game.
And let you rebuild? No way. Not sure why you even wanted to push the game back anyways as I don't think you guys play anyone of note out of conference next year, do you?

You would have had Bray coming back with experience vs a UNC team starting a red shirt qb.

exactly....

You 3 realize TCU did the exact same thing Dooley did didn't you? Run the ball - but TCU has better RBs and a better O-line... which = better execution. We were not going to pass the ball there.. and we shouldn't have - it was the right call..

I'll take my chances on breaking a run for a first down and not getting it over throwing it the ball and not getting it and giving UNC the ball with 1 or 2 TOs left and over 1:30 left on the clock.

So, you would rather UNC play a shell of a team rather than a full strength team?

That shows nothing about how far your team has come.

Bragging rights are much sweeter when your best beats their best.
You are a major SEC football program which scheduled this game years ago. Why should we move the game back because you don't want to play UNC next year?

Whatever full strength means. You have the same numbers of players on offense/defense/special teams as does UNC.

You shouldn't have. We have a bonehead for an AD who should have left the game scheduled as it was.

He's yellow, but the Vols are not. :hi:

total? not really we are severely under the cap for players on scholarship right now due to 3 years of attrition that will likely still happen to a smaller degree this off-season as well.

And I don't agree with us backing out - nor does anyone on this board really - but why wouldn't you reschedule it? You definitely would have made more money from that home game than you did from the buyout. With a big time school coming to town - an easy sellout and we'd likely have gotten our program back on track at that point making it more appealing for fans to come out and watch rather than watching a scrub team with several walk ons starting.

There is no "Why should we", but you already knew that.

UNC is missing an almost full recruiting class of players as well? How many did you all lose due to the fiasco at the beginning of the year?

Also worth noting, the SEC limits its teams to 25 per year to keep them non-competitive longer. Beyond the bonehead we have as an AD, we have another one for the league commissioner.

Good point. They would have pummeled, along with a lot of other teams, with all those players.

Actually, bragging rights are much sweater when you win than win you lose.

JMHO.

No - the max anyone can sign is 25 I'm pretty sure - not including backcounts - is that what you're referring to?

Okay, I think it's 25 can enroll each year, but the league can set the limit to sign (e.g. oversign). In the SEC, they can sign 28. I the other stuff is the same for backcounts in all leagues.

UNC wants to play football programs. They didn't like the idea of moving the Vols back a couple of years and retooling with Rutgers. And UNC shouldn't like that. The bigger question is why even ask UNC to move the game back.

I believe a total of 16 players were suspended at the beginning of the year. 5-7 of which will be playing on Sunday. 1-3 of those 7 could be first round picks and 1 certainly will be a top 10. Quinn will go early. Austin will depend on combines
