Official NCAA Football 2010 Thread

it really depends on who's doing it. if you play a guy who's really good(or at least good at taking advantage of exploits in the game) who knows the game inside and out it can be pretty hard to stop compared to some goober who doesn't know what he's doing

I was in the same dynasty, and in that specific situation, it was pretty much impossible to stop. The safety was only a few points worse at DE than he was at safety. His junior and senior year he was 80+ overall. Even if you were lucky enough to get a block on him, the player was decent enough at DE to not get pancaked every time. It was a 6'2" 230 lb safety with 97 speed...still undersized, but it wasn't a 5'10" 160 lb scrawny guy playing on the line. It was pretty much a fluke recruit, and that guy (and everyone else in the dynasty) were never able to find another player like that.

I'm guessing that person was USC and was using Taylor Mays.

Nah, the guy was using Clemson.

I just got the accurate story...he was a RB, not safety like we thought, and it was just for one year (year 4 of our dynasty).

He was a 97 speed, 6'3" 225 and was an 86 overall at DE his senior year after off season training. He only put him there because his best returning DE was only a 78 overall and it was an actual position change during the offseason.

With players not losing physical attributes like speed in this year's game this could happen A LOT more...

Anyway, back to NCAA 10...

New Uni Selection process...Mix and Match

ESPN: I saw the ability to mix and match uniforms in the game for each team. How will that work?

Ben Haumiller: In years past, you had your home uniform, your away uniform, and you might have a couple of alternates. But this year, we wanted to break these up into individual pieces because there are so many uniforms that are just the change of a pant color or something like that. So we broke all of these up so you can set your helmet, your jersey, your pants and your shoe color independent from each other. Just doing that right there, the number for the potential of alternate jerseys grew exponentially, especially for a team like Oregon who has different helmets and like eight different jersey tops and three or four different pants. If you're playing as Oregon, you can have a completely different uniform every game of the season.
'NCAA Football 10': What's new in Dynasty - ESPN

I'm sure there are some of you uniform nazis that may crap a brick over this...but I think this is great.

I know this has partially been referenced in some other posts, if I missed where this had been confirmed already, sorry for re-posting. :)

Team Builder is up. Pretty sweet. Anybody have a good name for an Alaskan school?

Well, Palmer High School is the Palmer Moose. You could go with the Martins. There are martins everywhere up there. Or the sea cucumbers. How about the Devil's clubs? That's an annoying spikey plant that can grow up to seven feet tall and is covered in brutal thorns. They get pretty ridiculous by the end of the summer.

Perhaps Arctic Graylings? Those are interesting looking freshwater fish. The Bears or Grizzlies is too obvious.

EDIT: You can't have the purple squid/octopi. That's taken for my team since 2003.

Polar Bears.

Or you could create the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves. Colors are green and yellow.

The Univ. of Alaska Blizzard sounds good as well. Although the name of Huskies has obvious connotations to the state.

Alaska-Fairbanks is a better (but smaller) school than Alaska-Anchorage. I'd make a team for them.

ha Alaska - have fun with that poor recruiting pitch on distance from home for 99.99% of recruits lol.

Don't forget the nice summer pitch there that should work...........not. Oh yea, it's 70 degrees in the summer, but it's -296 degrees in winter, with a 924 degree below zero wind chill.

Summers there are beyond awesome. It'll be 11 at night and you think it's 3 in the afternoon.

How is that good? Summer Days are ripe for partying in downtown Juneau, or beautiful downtown Anchorage.

I know they play a midnight baseball game that looks like it's being played at 6 PM.

It really isn't that bad. Where my dad lives, just gets into the 20's in the winter, and gets up to 75 in the summer. My little brother was swimming two weeks ago. There are a lot of micro-climates at work up there.

The coldest I ever experienced up there was something like -20. It felt like you were naked, even though you had on full winter gear. The wind and chill went right through. You just stay inside and rent movies in the winter. No biggie.

I remember actually getting an information pack from Univ. of Alaska Southeast. I believe they were called the Bruins if I remember correctly. Colors were blue and white.

I had no idea. Even still, that's a little too cold for my liking.
