i work at gamestop, and street dates are a huge deal now. a store can get fined big money for selling a copy early. it used to be pretty common for someone to pick one up early from comp usa or target or something, but now with all the legal actions, its almost never heard of.
This guy on Operation Sports PMed me about this Toy R Us in Knoxville that he gets it early from every year.
It is illegal to do it, but a lot of places don't care. They aren't going to go after every single store that breaks the release date cause there are way too many. I've pre ordered mine and I'm getting 10% off cause "I know people" lol...I'm happy waiting so I don't have to spend 10 dollars more than just pay it all and get it a day or 2 early.
haha considering the company would get fined and the manager terminated, i think they would care.
I'd say if the people at the stores knew it was against the rules they probably wouldn't do it, but alot of people that say work at wal-mart or target probably do not know that this is the case. However, with that being said I have also heard that it pops up on the computer not to sell the game if it is before release date at Wal-Mart.
