Official NCAA Football '11 Thread

They just need to factor in stats more to the man coverage, instead of the defender just knowing what route is being run ahead of time and tracing it. Also, make turning your hips factor into their "locomotion" stuff. That is where the defender is getting the edge over the receiver.

But they better not touch it unless they improve zone. Otherwise, it will be all about who gets the last possession of each half.

How in the world did we ever make it 5-7 years ago when games were essentially unpatchable? Were the games just better made then, so that no patch was required? Or did everyone just overlook all this stuff and live with it? Especially things like the recruiting ratings. If they had it figured out years ago, why is it broken in this years' game?

It seems like every game released these days has some major bug or glitch that requires patching before the game can even be playable. It happened with Halo 3, it happened with MW2 and the cp glitch, and now it's happening with NCAA 11. Maybe they've come to the point where they know if some big problem comes up, they can fix it down the road with a patch, so they don't test as much for problems. You would think the devs would have simmed a few seasons into the future and found out that something was broke before writing it into the final game.

Development times are very short nowadays and the number of workers is much smaller, too. While the technology has developed to make up for some of those changes, quality control and rigorous testing and tweaking can't be substituted.

The dev time on most EA games shouldn't have changed that much over the years. They still release almost all their games anually on the same date. NCAA comes out the second Tuesday in July, and it has for as long as I can remember. Do they just start working on the games later in the year than they used to? I don't know a whole lot about the development process. I just assumed once they wrap up this year's game they would get to work on NCAA 12.

Well, the staff is smaller and there is more "game" than there used to be, when you think about all the details that are in now that didn't used to be. Those things take time. Reskinning 100's of mascots takes more time than adding a "custom playbook" feature, for example. I think it is partly because of misplaced priorities, and just more work than labor.

The man coverage is fine way more sim then in the past...straight zones should suck and do for the first time.

While man coverage should be strong if you have the players, there is no reason why a MLB should be able to shut down a WR. Especially when you start getting into talent disparities. Sorry. Nothing sim there.

There is nothing sim about slants being totally ineffective against man coverage. That's what they are designed to do. Sorry, nothing sim there.

There is nothing sim about zones of all kinds being nearly completely useless. If they were that useless, they would no longer exist in the college or professional game. And if you think the Tampa 2 and other zones are useless... Well, that is news to most every NFL team. Nothing sim there.

I doubt the patch comes out for another couple of weeks. I'm hoping it does something about dynasty progression and recruits attributes. Evidently, recruits' awareness is horrible and it's making them play terrible of the field.

I'm now up to 8-0 with Vandy. Next game is Florida, if I win I clinch the SEC East.

I did something incredibly stupid against South Carolina. I was up 17-10 and SC was driving to tie the game. I intercepted the ball at the 2 yard line with under 2:00 to play and SC only had one timeout. I ran the FB up the middle for all 3 plays and there was 5 second left and I was on the 1 yard line.

So I ran a hail mary, my plan just to run around in the backfield for the 5 seconds and if I was about to get hit then to just run out of the back of the endzone; as I didn't want to risk getting sacked and fumbling to give the CPU a cheap TD. So I hike it and scramble and roll to the right and for some reason...I threw the ball. It was incomplete and left 1 second for SC to run a play, from the 1 yard line.

Luckily I stuff their RB at the line to end the game, but after I did that I paused the game and stared at the screen for about 2 minutes, not believing what I just had done.

At one time I was ranked the number 200 something player overall in playstation.

And that is supposed to mean something?

Aren't there only 250 who play PS3 online?

I kid, but you should not elude to being that good, the other guy sucked really bad or you are just making it up.

First tuner set coming out next week tweaking "athleticism of linemen," recruiting and progression in dynasty. Good news there.

Patch #2 in about 2-3 weeks.

Good to know that they're planning on fixing it, but frustrating just the same to know that it's still at least 2-3 weeks before I can start any kind of dynasty, online or off. Still, better late than never.

Also, good to know that the uniforms will no longer be squeaky clean even in the worst of downpours. That was one of the smaller issues, but it still looked dumb when you played in the rain.
