I highly doubt we will make a move on anyone since FA is crap this year(also we needed Neal's $$$ to secure the JOFA line moving forward). The young guys that we had to pull up to cover injuries showed they could play on the biggest of stages. Look for these guys to secure their spot when we get cranked back up in September.

Jarnkrok, Sissons, Aberg. There's plenty of youngs guys who showed they can play.

Some sort of move has to be made. This team is not better without Neal.

I wish I weren't asking this after the fact because it is gonna come off like sour grapes over losing Neal, but can anyone briefly explain to me why teams could protect 7-3-1 or 8-1? It seems like the teams that have more emphasis on the forward position get an unfair advantage out of this arrangement.

I do trust what Poile said about the price of keeping Neal being too high. There was a reasonable chance the Preds would lose him to free agency after next season anyway.

I trust Poile no matter what. He has forgotten more than I'll ever know about the Preds. But wow what a blow losing Neal is. Especially if Fisher retires. But as other said, youngsters showed they can play, and it makes our already young roster younger.

No, it's a huge blow. We're talking about a SSS here with the young guys.

25 goals doesn't grow on trees and that's what Neal was.

Placing entirely too much emphasis on a flash in the pan during a playoff run.

I think the Duchene to Nashville talk increases dramatically today. Avs are wanting to move him and the Preds have the need and cap. Avs are wanting defense back, but they will address that in the draft and possibly take Nashville's 30th pick and some young forwards.

Preds grabbed a heck of a player at 30

30. Nashville Predators
The pick: Eeli Tolvanen, RW, Sioux City (USHL)
Nationality: Finland | Pronman rank: 7

Scouting notes: Simply put, Tolvanen has produced everywhere he has gone. In my opinion, he was the best player in the USHL this season, and he has looked very good in international play for Finland the past few seasons. Tolvanen is known mostly for his big-time shot, which makes him one of the more feared goal-scorers in this year's class. However, he is more than a shooter. Tolvanen has great hands, can make difficult feeds and can play at a quick pace, though he is most comfortable when winding up his cannon. He's small and not incredibly quick for a player his size (though I think his skating is adequate), but he's smart enough to put himself in position to score and has a little physical edge to his game too. He's committed to Boston College for 2017-18.

Team fit: This is the steal of the first round. Nashville gets Tolvanen, one of the best goal-scorers in the class, and a player who becomes their clear top forward prospect. He was reportedly rejected by Boston College, so if he doesn't end up on campus, he could potentially enters the Predators' system right away in the AHL.

So I didn't know NHL had a farm system till tonight. How long does it normall take players to develop from draft till we see them in Nashville. I know people are different. Just trying to figure it out. I'm trying to learn all I can about a sport I've taken to liking.

Depends on the player really. 2-3 years, I'd say is about normal for first round picks. Your Top 3-4 typically play that year.

Seth Jones was drafted in 2013 and played that year. Fiala was drafted in 2014. He played his first NHL game in 2015.

Crosby played the year he was drafted. Matthews and Laine (last years top 2 picks) played the year they were drafted as well. Some 1st round picks never even play an NHL game.

Depends. Players from the CHL can't play in the minors until they're 20, so barring outliers most will go back to Major Junior until they're 20 and then move to the AHL or NHL.

Euros can keep playing professionally overseas or come over for seasoning in the minors,often their NHL team would prefer they play at home until they're done growing then give them an AHL season as prep for the smaller ice. NCAA players can leave at any time (The vast majority are drafted before their freshman year, unless they skip a year of prep).

Basically the leverage is with the teams in most cases, and they'll create a roadmap for guys, and there's plenty of options.

Players as good as Crosby have spent at least 2 in the AHL.

Watching the CHL is hard the further south you go, but it's fun games. Picture high end AAU basketball. The W is big and physical, the Q is slick, and the OHL is "NHL" hockey.

World U18 and U20(World Juniors) are also fun.
