I remember hearing a story after the 1994 Vols-Dores game where VFL Joe Thompson was asked about the game. He said he wished the Vols had gone for two after the last TD so the final would have 66-0 instead of 65-0.

There's another one about an assistant coach in the 70s who decided to interview for the Vandy football HC vacancy. VFL George Cafego refused to acknowledge the assistant's presence until Vandy hired someone else.

Lastly, I remember a bumper sticker I saw when I was growing up in West Tennessee. It read, "Avoid the Rush, Hate Vandy Now!"

How many Vandy students does it take to change a flat tire?

Four. Three to make martinis and brag about their overpriced education, and one to call daddy for help.

Will Hunting said it best....."Number 1, don't do that. And number 2, one of these days you're gonna realize you dropped 150k on an education you coulda got with $1.50 worth of late charges at the public library"

My Ole Miss buddy said, "good luck in y'all's rivalry game this weekend. What do you call it?"

We call it an ass whippin'. No egg bowl, no iron bowl, just an ass whippin'. Believe we are 32-3 against them in my lifetime. Not a rivalry.

Agree. Why does anybody call this a rivalry game for UT? It's more of a forgone conclusion. Their 2 wins vs us the last 2 years gives them 3 total wins vs us since Reagan's first year of his first term in 1981. Vanderbilt is NOT a rival and they sure as hell ain't our "little brother". They suck.

I hate going to their home games and have someone who insists on standing up in front of me the whole time

Having lived in Nashville most of my life, I never really hated Vandy but felt sorry for them. But in the early 80's I was at a Nashville Sounds baseball game and the scoreboard flashed up a score that Tennessee's football team was losing to an out of conference opponent. All of a sudden these Vandy fans started clapping and cheering against Tennessee. From that moment on, I began to loathe the Commodores and their fans. (My soon to be brother-in-law was also the QB for Vanderbilt at this time.) Soon after that the Commodores played the Russian Basketball team in a preseason basketball game at Memorial Gym, I went to that game all decked out in my Tennessee orange and cheered for the Russians, who by the way defeated Vanderbilt in that game. The Vandy fans couldn't believe I was cheering for the Russians, it was a memorable day for me. I still to this day despise the Commodores and their fans and I am glad they are anchored down as usual at the bottom of the SEC where they so rightly belong.
