The cycle continues.

Sunday rumors.
Butch comes to the presser on Monday.
More rumors will come out on Tuesday.
Butch will trot out on Wednesday.
More rumors will fly on Saturday. He will coach. We will lose.
Tons of smoke on Sunday.
He will come back out on Monday.

This has been a bunch of bs.

Kentucky should have made it obvious that he is here until the offseason.

Ain't gonna lie. It's getting old. All, all of it.

This has been the longest season I can remember. The losses, the speculation, the lack of improvement. It's draining. I can honestly say I can't wait for the season to end and I've never felt that way before.

At what point have expectations at Tennessee ever been lower?

I'll wait for your answer.

Pretty sure he meant Gruden won't be able to live up to what some here expect from him. I agree with him.

I mean, there are Gruden Bible verses.

Knoxville media is so boring...just lob them softballs boys...

Tonight Gruden will put on the Smokey mascot head and then take it off . He will then say just kidding along with , "you know Sean that is a great place with great passionate fans and like I've said in the past it is my dream job". Then he will say how he would have us on probation if he was hired here.

Dude come on... I saw people seriously stating that we should win a SECCG within 3 years of him being our coach and we should win a Natty by year 5. Your expectations are reasonable, clearly I wasn't talking about you.

Those people are morons. It's hard to win a Natty. Just do what you do best, the wins will come and we'll get to the SECCG. Goal should be an appearance every 3 years anyway at a minimum.

As long as he progresses the team, it will come. His year 5 will look VERY different than our current *******'s year 5.

A trained monkey would have done better.

In case anyone is interested, here is a complete list of every question Butch was asked during the press conference (paraphrased).. Spoiler Alert: His job was not mentioned.

- Asked for him to comment on Missouri run game

- Asked about JG & QB situation

- Asked about WR injuries

- Commented on Defensive take-aways - asked when the 'light bulb came on' for them

- "Would you consider leaving Trey Smith at tackle?"

- "Were you surprised that people were critical of burning McBride's red shirt?"

- "JG is looking better - is he settling in?"

- "Missouri is playing better than they were at the start of the season - what have they improved on?"

- "What did you like about McBride? Where can he improve?"

- "How does Drew Locke compare to other QB's you've faced this season?"

- Asked to talk about what Evan Berry has meant to the program

- "Will Kongbo retain his starting spot after the suspension?"

- Asked about 3rd string QB if JG and WB both go down

I lived in Eastern Montana for a bit. Got spoiled with the hunting, and I have a hard time sitting in a stand waiting for an animal to come by. I've essentially quit hunting around here for the most part. I would rather fly fish.

Now you're talkin, Soque River in North Georgia.

I personally understand that IF we have our guy, keeping Butch is basically the same as having an interim coach (unless you have one on staff that you think can win more). Hearing the rumors that Hoke and Shoop don't get along means one of them cannot be interim as the other may be less than motivated to coach under the other. Thus Butch is just a warm body band aid, until we finish the season, and finally announce the big hire. (hopefully just before recruiting signing day)

However, for the young men playing for us, it must feel like awaiting a sentence on death row. We likely won't win again, and a little spark of hope, an inkling that the university cares and is willing to invest in the football program might do wonders.
Feel badly for them. They give all and suffer ,most.
