Exactly my thoughts. It seems as if the people claiming we were getting Gruden had much better info than the people claiming he wasn't even in play. The ones who scoffed at 2012 Gruden mania are the ones who were clueless. Even more true in 2017.

Let’s say you’ve been offered 8 million to come back and coach. You know the history of the UTAD. You THINK they are serious about winning but you are not willing to bet your reputation on it. What better way to see if the UTAD is really serious about winning? You throw out two names for OC and DC that will make some (most?) Vol fan’s skin crawl. If UTAD says yes, then you can be sure you have control to run the program as you see fit. Just my opinion.

Gruden brings with him a lot of good will.... and if the Orange team is winning.... it would be the Doug Dickey thing all over again... all would be good!

I am beginning to warm up to the idea... can you imagine the recruiting effort going in when you have Kiffin, Zook and then Gruden closing the deal!

Gruden is an offensive coach. He would likely call plays. Why in the world would he bring in the premier offensive minds and play callers in the country? Ever heard of too many Chiefs, not enough Indians? Why would he hire Kiffin, who isn't even on his coaching tree, when he knows plenty of others that would take it, who the fans don't despise?

Why would Kiffin, who bailed on his chance to win a NC in order to be a HC again, give that up to go be an OC at a rebuilding project?

I think he was as well. USC chopped him down to size. Losing your wife can also bring some perspective to what matters. He’s still a sarcastic goob sometimes but today’s 18-22 year olds love him. He talks trash and for the most part, backs it up.

When I was a kid, I was boxing competitively out of Jackson...one of my true rivals was a kid from Savannah by the name of Junior Short. We became friends over time, and another kid from Savannah was a good friend by the name of Stan Holt. Do you know either of them?
