Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVII

Disagree. The Bovada people on twitter have pretty much stated that it is money movement. I don't believe they have insider information. People are just unloading on Gruden because its the popular name out there. Vegas odds are deceiving when it isn't a line for a game.

The more money bet on Gruden lowers the line. It's how they hedge against losses...look at the casinos and you should know they don't lose money in Vegas.

There was a rumor after Hart shot down the Gruden hire in 2012 that part of the control issue problem was Jon wanting an additional title from the AD department beyond just Head Coach. Curious if this could be in play again...

Ah ha! He wants to be AD as well! ;)

“People who boo need to sta home”
Disagree. I will be there cheering on the players but I’m not gonna hold back when they announce that clowns name as the coach. I pay a lot of money for 11 season tickets. I plan on making my voice heard.

What happens when they say “Coach Jon Gruden!” and that’s how he is announced? Over/under on the number of seconds until fans rush the field? 4.7?

Confirmed

I can answer the section about "control". Saban is the best example. Saban hired Sarkisian just as a consultant for meetings. How did he get this done? He simply told the AD to make an official spot for him...Boom it's done. They have the largest staff and will expand it as much as Saban wants. He does not have to cater to a booster no matter how much they contribute, to the university.

A big time coach wants the authority to make any changes, without approval.

And Saban has earned Alabubba enough money in enrollment and athletics that they dont blink if he wants an assistant butt wiper.

Problem with our people is they cantsee the future returns on this big investment.

Tell that to the people that bet on Rousey and MacGregor

Rousey was heavily favored in her last fight. MacGregor pulled it to close to even-ish odds

So, are we off the Gruden train? Is it confirmed that Haslem/Currie torpedoed the JG deal and that its off the table?

I got this a few minutes ago. Pretty sure it's all about buyout money at this point. If so, don't be surprised to see them go nuclear on Butch.

With Davis, Kendrick, and Currie blow up I don't see how he is still here. Congrats on your son taking QB position as a freshman!!!

The media narrative will get worse before it gets better....by design. More is going is likely to come out. Watch the demeanor of the lapdog UT media change in regards to Butch over the next few days.

Just so you know....whoever it was that said Butch was out after KY win or lose, was initially correct. I don't remember who it was but he took a lot of heat when it didn't happen. Something behind the scenes changed it...I assume the Davis issue, then you added in the Kendrick situation. I'm told the blowup in Anderson between Butch and Currie was in regards to this.

Thanks for the info. That's kind of what I was suspecting.

I believe it was OldVol or DocVol that brought the info but I could be wrong.

I can't understand why people give "heat" to people when they don't happen. The trolls are fairly easy to identify. These things change every minute as there are a lots of pieces in play. Don't hate on the guys who are fortunate enough to have sources, and kind enough to share the info.

Ok I'm off my soapbox now. Sorry.

Keep bringing it Boro. Your other post re: Gruden being our best option was how alot of us feel. It has been a frustrating 10 years and some us geezers are just flat out running out of time.

I heard back from one of my contacts and his first statement was that it looks like the whole situation is turning into a "s**t show" and glad he doesn't have something like that to deal with.

He also said he has heard a lot of "chatter", but he doesn't know who the new coach will be. Didn't know if Gruden would take the job or not, but it seems like lots of courting has been going on. He stated that is hard to do with a sitting coach and you have to be careful about that, gave the example of AU and Petrino a few years ago. Said that could really blow up in your face.
Thought that Butch would at least make it through the season, but now he is not sure.

Again this doesn't come from someone who has UT ties, but runs in the same circles as Currie does if that makes sense. He also knows Currie and says he is a good AD.

Some of you guys crack me up. Linear thinking at its best. Y’all are looking at a chess game being played and commenting on it like it is checkers.

Unless you have some documented instructions for every. Idgaf.
