Do they have any businesses other than the Browns at this point?

They still own 51% of Pilot. We should all go put Pilot employees out of work because someone named "MIT_Beaver" says Haslam is holding up our preferred coaching hire.

You know, because...

But Gruden was a done deal weeks ago. Why does he need a list?

No one has said 100% he would take the job. Yea I know beav said 100%. Those are the terms of money in principle he agreed to. There are other parts in play here, actually so many I would have a hard time wanting to come here unless everyone is on the same page. Thay being said there are other coaches being contacted and I am not sure if this is all part of the chess game or not. But the names are pretty good. No I am not at will to mention them. Sorry.

It's easy to overcome for me...they have to make a Gruden sized effort for me to ever care again. Doesn't have to be him, though that's my obvious choice, but it better be a big money homerun swing. I want to see a commitment to reaching a championship level, before I commit again.

I am right with this. My wife's team is Auburn(so when not playing each other we do root for each others team) I can just win more brownie points with a massive tailgate down at the barn for game next year instead of going to one in Knoxville and then pick Auburn v GA to go to the following year and so on till they decide to invest cash in our ON FIELD product. No more trips, air tickets, tailgates. I'll root for the orange laundry but zero cabbage coming out of the wallet.

He's a fraud. Everything he does is a contrived optic. You could never convince me that wasn't planned.

A charlatan to the nth degree.

Dooley was a doofus, and he knew it (hygiene, bamboo watering, etc). Jones is a pompous ***wipe who thinks we're too st-st-stupid to recognize his gaffes and ineptitude.

You think it's part of the empty Neyland thing?

He could be really angry and he's going to do something like Facebook live him burning the tickets or something. Absolutely nothing will surprise me with the emotional status of our fan base.

It's been said 10000 times that "control" is the issue. Control of what specifically?

I am as "full Grude" as anybody. That is one thing that has bugged me last time and now this time. Everybody throws around the "control" word. Gruden needs control....Haslam doesn't want to give up control...etc etc. Somebody that knows please tell me what "control" is. I have been involved in football programs at every level outside of the pros, and I don't understand what extra "control" Gruden could want. He would be able to hire or fire anybody on the staff. He is still responsible to the AD. I don't understand this mysterious extra control he is supposedly seeking or sought last time.

I know last time there were issues with the academic side and how some things were structured. To my knowledge, that has been fixed this time. One main issue last time was the "academics" wouldn't allow a broad/generic major that students could take because it counted against their desire to move up the academic rankings.

When the APR stuff started, you had to be "progressing" towards a degree or else you got dinged on your APR rate. If a student at the end of their Sophomore year changed their major from something like Engineering to Business, they would likely fall below the threshold required to "progress" toward their degree as a 2nd year student because a lot of the courses they took wouldn't transfer to their new major. We all know how many times kids change majors. Most colleges have a "University Studies" or some other major where classes were pretty fluid and would count toward progression even if they changed majors. This was one of the reasons that nobody wanted the job last time. That is an APR disaster waiting to happen. To Butch's credit he has boosted our APR and gotten us on the right track in that regard. Now we are a much more attractive spot for potential candidates (but mostly Gruden)

Your Photoshop sucks. Even worse is that you tried to sell it like you saw if walking to class.
Good times man, good times.

Wow everyone clap for the guy in Bama!! He could figure out it was photoshopped, yay!! Alright now get back to work, the line at the register is getting long.

Someone explained to me, control over the coach and football program. Bring in a big name, celebrity coach and the Haslam's lose the ability to basically tell the coach to come to charity events, do what they say etc. Big name boosters at Bama aren't asking Saban to give up his free time to do their bidding. Haslam is able to do that to someone like Butch.

I've been in sales a long time and know what 100% means. It doesn't mean, "That sounds great. Send the paperwork over." or "Let's schedule a meeting next week and wrap this up."

While those things may sound good, it's not 100%. 100% is signed, sealed, delivered, and the check has cleared. Everything up until that point is pretty meaningless.

38 Days: How Alabama Pulled off the Great Heist of Nick Saban

This is a pretty good read, and shows that even Moore had problems getting Saban there, even publicly had problems.

I'm not saying Currie is doing the same thing, but it seems to me that he is somewhat trying to take the Moore approach after reading it and looking at what all Currie has/hasn't done so far

from last nights may lay, from tos ...

point i was making is ... why is everybody (not pointing you out coasty, i mean seemingly everybody) so positive today? nothing makes sense.

what has transpired that's got everybody giddy?

i missed something, and i'm reading the posts trying to catch up, not wanting to be spoonfed, but would like a little help.

i feel like the short kid that can't reach the top shelf, always relying on somebody else to hand it to him. honestly, that's more frustrating to me than anything else (i know, sounds like a personal problem).

i thought in the BOT meeting when they voted to do the renovations, they did so based upon the $ the centennial group (ergen and boosters) were pledging, with the caveat that if they didn't get gruden, they'd pull the $, meaning we get gruden.

then last night, mud starts hitting the wall, everybody was down like no deal, haslam won, and i'm like, what in the world happened.

then this morning, there was a meeting, swain knows, ect ect.

i'm really trying to keep up, but i cannot.
somebody help me fill in the gaps.
what am i missing.

ps-and i'm not freaking out.

If you haven't figured out that this thread has astronomical ups and catastrophic downs for no real reason than I don't know what else to say lol.

People are getting bent out of shape because Beav doesn't post enough or he posts too much on twitter or they over analyze a word he typed and determine it doesn't fit their narrative.

Honestly man you're not missing anything. I think a lot of people on here are too close to the situation and expect to find a "reason" or some secret message in everything that's posted. Just need to take a step back from it all once in awhile and relax.

We don't need their names, just where they are currently coaching at!! Win/Win situation. JK
