Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVII

After the Haslam stuff from MIT, I no longer think he's being truthful. Haslam was okay with the JG hire in 2012, even giving his resources to try and make it happen. Haslam and JG are actually friends. Peyton and Haslam are friends. Haslam has spent literally 9 figures at UT. Played for Neyland and wants the best for UT football. It makes absolutely 0 sense that he'd oppose this.

I want Gruden and he's my top choice by far, but this reeks of JG having said thanks but no thanks to coaching here several weeks ago and someone using it to drive ill feelings towards the Haslam family.

This has nothing to do with Gruden but everything to do with resistance to relinquishing power. Read around these threads, especially the previous one. Several of us have answered this in great detail. Not gonna crunch through it all again.

Forget #emptyNeyland, we need to empty Pilot gas stations of all customers if the Haslems screw over the UT fan base and keep us from hiring Gruden. Maybe the Haslems need to learn the lesson the NFL is now learning!

After the tax you got shoved up yer hindend, why are you not already?

TIFWIW, on TOS, they are def taking down threads. Full blown censorship. Nonetheless, posters like Hutch7 and Powellz, who are considered very credible, are saying it’s now an Ergen v. Haslam showdown after dinner. Trying to keep up. I’m sure there are others on here seeing this as well.

Guys .... can you BELIEVE this dude is STILL our coach??

Live in FL and played golf with a bunch of FL and FSU fans today. They think Tennessee has lost its mind.
5 or 6 gruden threads later..

He’s gonna be good at a big school I think

This will be a lil long do bare with me.....

I think Frost, Matt Campbell, and Mike Norvell are all in a class of the next generation of great coaches! They all having been walking the walk so to speak.

Frost has taken a winless team 2 years or so ago to 6 or 7-0 this season. Smoked Maryland on the road and beating down Memphis and also beating a good Navy team while piling up major points! Not to mention he played for Tom Osborne in college and Parcells, Belechick, and the one and only GRUDEN in the pros. And on to top that off was on staff under Chip Kelly and OC under Helfrich at Oregon. Impressive resume to say the least!

Matt Campbell has the most impressive wins this season out of all of them. Upsetting a double-digit favorite at Oklahoma (loved watching that game) and following that up taking down an undefeated TCU team, showing they’re no fluke. Guy’s only like 37 or 38, but has a buyout of around 10 million. Whoever gets him one would think it will be money well spent.

Lastly, Mike Norvell. I don’t know as much about him, but he’s a young guy too (35-36.) I know he took over for Fuente, but he’s kept it going and Memphis is like 7-1 this season. They’re a fun team to watch as well with a guy we’re all familiar with at QB slinging it all over. Norvell’s gonna be a name well known before long wherever he ends up.

Again, sorry for the long post, just wanted to put my “3 cents” in on these up and coming coaches. With all the great coaches out there, these 3 mention and 4 or 5 other big names, UT HAS TO land one of these guys. Of coarse my hope is they keep their eye on the prize and make Volnation ecstatic announcing the next football coach at the University of Tennessee as John Freakin Gruden!!!!!!!

They didn't sell the whole thing. They still own a significant portion. Also, it's their life's work and I'm sure they have a large interest in seeing it continue to be successful.

By whatever means necessary :aggressive::aggressive::aggressive:

Ok..I’ve held off on saying this until now and I’ve seen enough..While you may disagree with us believers, there’s no need to enter this thread and be a jerk about it..It’s ridiculous! Disagree in a civil manner..Good grief pretty much all of us are wanting the same thing..Carry on Ladies and Gentlemen.
