Just throwing my $.02 in the pot again.
I don't think MIT is a troll in the typical sense. SFD will be pleased to know that I believe she was the first one on the right track here - and that is inquiring into intentions.
Many other insiders on this board are long account holding individuals. Their identity on this board is as a supporter of the team and the university. MIT has always spread information in a tone that signifies he WANTS that information out. The info he has is explosive, and he knows that. I also believe that if his source wanted the info silenced, it would have been already. In sum, I don't believe he is making this stuff up, I believe he is a mole. I wouldn't expect too see him on this board in the future. That account will likely dry up once this is all over.
With regards to the airplane/sign thing - I think the end is near, and its a sign that they are doing everything they can to influence the outcome. Nothing more, nothing less. If the deal is as good as they say it is, and the penalty for non conformance as painful as they say it is, then 100% confidence is not a far-fetched position to find yourself. That doesn't mean you let off steam, the General would agree.
I don't think he's here to smoke screen us, I think the more likely scenario is that he is an agent of the pro-Gruden faction. If anyone felt burned form 2012, they would have spent 5 years reflecting on what could have been done differently. I have to believe that they are making good on those reflections. MIT is just part of that equation.
With regards to the info they are sharing, and the substance of our conversation yesterday. I fully believe that the largest conflict is between the AA and the AD. I think the Haslem bit is just not as big of an issue. At this point, I'd hope he'd be on board - I could be wrong.
In talking to Bubba yesterday about the Pareto efficiency of the deal, it makes sense that everyone is close to getting what they want. (Getting what they need from a deal regarding Gruden.) If his information is legit, and I'm assuming it is arguendo, then any group who had been holding out is close to being satisfied. This lines up well with what a number of other posters have been saying. That the final wrinkles are being ironed out, the final ducks are getting in the row.
This is a huge deal, as it has been presented here. If it was as simple as "fire coach - hire coach" then we wouldn't be in this position. There is something about this deal that smells like it implicates major culture changes, and its silly for anyone to think that will happen in a short time line.
For me, I pay attention to a few points:
(1) I find ATL's disappearance to be very interesting. He was here a lot early on. Made a post about being highly involved with the process, and said that if it got close he wouldn't be reporting it here. His radio silence is a very interesting fact.
(2) So many different sources have confirmed Jones won't be here next year. It's hard to distrust all those sources. Not impossible, but unlikely.
(3) There is no smoke about any other coaches. If (2) is true, then it would be presumed that we would be in the hunt. Contacts made, talks started.
(4) It was said early on that everyone on the booster side was "rowing in the same direction this time." I've seen nothing to indicate this isn't true. Perhaps I've been selective, but the rare account of a booster side source who says something negative is either from an un-trusted source, or easily explainable. (If your major booster friend's father doesn't spill the beans that doesn't mean it isn't happening. People who sign NDA's lie to their family all the time, trust me.)
I still believe. I believe PATIENCE is crucial to sanity.
Good things happen to good people, and we've been good for a long time.
Soon.
