Vegas sets the odds accordingly, so if they had low odds that means it would be more likely to happen. Plus, as others have mentioned, Vegas is essentially insider trading and a lot of information leaks to those people. This offshore site seems to only be based off the money coming in and does not have anybody actually setting the odds through information they know or have received. So people are saying do not get out of shape over the offshore line since Tennessee fans are probably the ones lowering it, not because they have any information that Gruden is going to be our next coach.

I have hope that Gruden is coming based on insiders supposed knowledge and some VFLs posting things on their twitter, not because of this offshore betting site. I put 0 stock in it.

Where do you normally bet? I know for example I've never seen a futures football on bovada that wasn't results based (on the field)

Has it occurred to any of you that this irrational insistence that Gruden be the next head coach is going to make the job very unpalatable for a lot of more likely coaches? I

If you are Chip Kelly, for example, do you take this job over another, knowing that everything you do will be compared to what the fans speculate that Gruden would have done? "Why did we kick on 4th and 1, Gruden would have gone for it!" "How did we miss out on that five star, Gruden would have got him!"

Some might view this as you setting up anyone but Gruden to fail.

Some might view 50000 posts by a Gator fan as a waste of Volnation's server space.

That's my point. How easy would it be for some slick con artist to create an account and creatively blow sunshine up our welcoming butts? The newer accounts especially. How new is atl account?

So, without going back and reading the 30 pages I fell behind, am I to believe the excitement is all based on the odds moving?

Can you link it the quote?

“It is going to happen, guys.

A very, very prominent booster has told several people today that it is now a done deal. I would expect CJG to be in town quite a bit over the next few weeks but in a much less publicized manner as things are ironed out with the staff.”

“Done. Deal.”

“Yes. I will be happy to bet anything any posters otb would like.”

“I do not want to post too many details until it’s official, but I will post all the details once it’s officially announced.
Corona deal had been a significant hurdle from my understanding.”

“This will be an offseason for the ages.”

With your explanation, anyone putting money on Gruden coming would be crazier than a s**t house rat! In other words, it's loaded.

The way I understood his explanation was that each coach could be viewed as a different "horse". If the site already has some inkling on who the winning "horse" will eventually be, they will set the odds to influence certain bets. Thus setting Gruden at such "unrealistic" odds would make people think it's a waste of money to even bet on him and people would in turn bet on more realistic "horses" with more realistic odds. These bets would all be wrong, if this site hypothetically had any inside info, so they wouldn't feel the need to change the odds because they want to continue receiving bets on these coaches if they think those bets are wrong. Once people started betting the winning "horse" in their eyes (Gruden), the odds would then drop dramatically to offset losses, even for smaller amounts and possibly influence people to bet against it happening (if that's an option). If the site did have some info and Gruden turns out to be the winner, they clean up with all the bets for other coaches and against Gruden. And due to them dropping the odds so quickly, they minimized their losses. Just my opinion and how I took his post. I could be wrong, I'm not much of a gambler.

Sorry for the long post. And SOON......

if the others can get by with the twirly girl over and over, surely i can get by with this post.

this is an excerpt of a study i did from a long time ago.
tell me what you think:

Depending on which Bible you read, there are two stories as to who actually killed Goliath. Both cannot be true. One is true, while the other is a lie.

1 Samuel 17:51 “Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.”
NIV - 1 Samuel 17:51 “David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.”

Here, both the Bible and the NIV tell us that David killed Goliath.

2 Samuel 21:19 “And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.”
NIV - 2 Samuel 21:19 “In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.”

The KJB states that Elhanan was responsible for killing the brother of Goliath, while the NIV claims he actually killed Goliath.

1 Chron. 20:5 “And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.”
NIV - 1 Chron. 20:5 “In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.”

Now the KJB gives the name of Goliath’s brother, and the NIV agrees that this is who Elhanan killed.

So, who killed Goliath? Was it David or Elhanan? Even the NIV isn’t sure what to believe.

Who knew the Gruden thread would lead to biblical discussion but here we are. I have a newer version of the NIV that says he was the brother of Goliath in 2 Samuel, but there's a footnote indicating that language was not in the original Hebrew. However it is in 2 Chronicles. Some say there is possibility that wording got lost or mangled in 2 Samuel when it was being copied. And there's some specifics about Hebrew that I don't understand that can kind of explain it but I'm too tired to process that at the moment.

But to simply answer the question these are 2 separate stories. 1 Samuel is leading up to David becoming king and thus earlier on the timeline and 2 Samuel comes later after David becomes king. Goliath got killed once in 1 Samuel by David. Elhanan killed some descendant of Goliath in 2 Samuel.

I'm tired, back to your regualarly scheduled Gruden thread. Grude night, and soon!
