NIV omits virgin in Isaiah when God prophesied Mary's pregnancy. It replaced it with maiden, therefore I will always doubt that translation!

Isaiah 7:14 -- NIV -- Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Hebrew al-maw' doesn't literally mean 'virgin' in Hebrew. It can be translated as virgin due to usage and cultural inference, but it literally means "young woman". This coming from someone who isn't the biggest fan of the NIV as a translation, and who is a huge defender Jesus' virgin birth.

But it's also from someone who believes all the translation bashing distracts from the bigger message: Jesus loves sinners and died to redeem us. One can read the NIV, ASV, ESV, HCSB, KJV, NKJV, etc and get that message.

Your facts could not be more wrong. The decision to fire Butch was made several weeks ago.

Exactly. I'm too busy running a business to follow every post but I have known you since the beginning of the 2012 search (along with others still in this thread). We do not all agree on the probably outcome of this one but personal attacks further my feeling that there is a fair amount of collaborative trolling going on this time around. Not calling names but am very suspect. We had plenty in 2012 that did the same thing and some people with actual real life relationships had them strained at best, ruined at worst because when it didn't happen anyone active in the thread became a troll. I am not as tied in now as then to what is going on within the AD admittedly but other attempts to corroborate anything some people have posted and the reaction make me very suspicious of a few.

It's hard to believe it's been almost 5 years since the late night John Gruden is coming 2012 on Volnation, in a way it was fun wishing and dreaming John Gruden would finally resurrect Tennessee Football......now it's come full circle:)

But one can still dream:eek:k:

If the Grude does become our HC, I promised my wife I would let her watch all the lifetime movies during the off-season that she wanted. I am now beginning to regret that promise because I believe it’s really gonna happen this time

lol shoulda just smacked $50 on that +1200 when you had the chance. that way you could have bought another tv with your winnings

What?! Betting on random internet beaver posters isn't your go to strategy!? Preposterous!

:)

Lol. Nope, I was very skeptical of him at first. I bet previous to the Gruden explosion. I saw +1800 and thought $9000 would be a nice payout if it actually happens. Of course it dropped while I was betting, so it's less than $8000 now.

Future bets? When lines are released at the beginning of the week for the next weekend, would that not be a line that's taking bets for a future event? Did I misunderstand what you meant by future?

Future bets would be like betting in August that TN wins the National Title.

Just wanted to make sure nobody forgot this.

To be clear, I placed my bet before or about the time Beaver showed up. It had nothing to do with him. I did it strictly because the risk was worth the payout for me and it was a complete gamble. I encouraged others not to unless they had the money to lose. Other posters can verify this because we talked about it on the previous Gruden threads.

I'm just kidding around. I bet bovada and have never heard of that site.

You are correct obviously but Props bets like this are a little different. There’s no way this is generating a ton of action. If so, there would be many more players taking bets on it. In this scenario, they can generate betting by moving odds to gain interest..as people begin thinking they know stuff, they in turn bet it and odds drop.

This is like betting a horse race with the difference being there could be 20+ horses in the race and you may not even know that some other horses are in the race...and at least horses have some sort of history to go on. In this case, the winner of the race may not even be a betting option at this point. And the site would take in a windfall.

With your explanation, anyone putting money on Gruden coming would be crazier than a s**t house rat! In other words, it's loaded.

Truth. As much as it hurts me to say. I believe Gruden is coming and I put my money where my mouth it, but this site means absolutely nothing.

I see now, didn't realize what site at first. Yeah if it's limiting you to $50 bets then I can see why it would have moved it. My apologies. I wouldn't put any stock into that movement either.

I'm tracking it's an offshore line. What's the difference in Vegas odds vs offshore?

Vegas sets the odds accordingly, so if they had low odds that means it would be more likely to happen. Plus, as others have mentioned, Vegas is essentially insider trading and a lot of information leaks to those people. This offshore site seems to only be based off the money coming in and does not have anybody actually setting the odds through information they know or have received. So people are saying do not get out of shape over the offshore line since Tennessee fans are probably the ones lowering it, not because they have any information that Gruden is going to be our next coach.
