Guys and gals I'm going to dispel some rumors. I 'm about to break a promise I made that I wouldn't post on here about this but I'm going to even knowing many of you won't believe or choose not to believe but here goes...And no I'm not looking for e-cred or anything else unless u want to send money

The decision to fire Butch Jones HAS NOT been made. As a matter of fact, Currie has made it clear he still supports Butch and if he doesn't have any embarrassing incidents and at least makes a mid tier bowl he may be retained. The buyout HAS NOT been negotiated as many are saying...that's quite obvious since the decision to fire Butch hasn't been made. So no, the Haslams haven't agreed to pay the buyout.

Now, here's the biggie on Gruden

Jon Gruden as of 10-27-17 has told all people close to him and the boosters who have reached out to him that he has NO DESIRE to coach in Knoxville. He does however intend the move to Knoxville after the ESPN cutbacks and MNF gets scrapped by ESPN. He has said he wouldn't mind being a consultant of some sort but coaching isn't something he wants to do at the college level. Now I know many of you are wanting the man so bad that what I've said isn't going to set well with you but that is indeed fact. I seriously doubt Currie is going to sway him to coach the Vols. He does as of now intend to attend the Southern Miss game so I can only imagine that the so called insiders on this forum are gonna get fired up with him there. It means nothing. One last tidbit..Currie HAS NOT reached out to ANY coach as of today because Butch Jones is his coach and may very well be his coach next year if he finishes 8-4 or 7-5 or doesn't get blown out by KY or any other team which he considers embarrassing.

That's all the facts I know. I have opinions but I'll keep them to myself so opinions don't get confused with facts. So there you go Volnation...theres the TRUTH as of today.

**This was also posted in the Hyams thread which was a mistake I thought I was posting it in this thread

You got me there. I guess what I was getting at is there are proven college coaches out there that Tennessee could get which seem more likely to succed than Gruden. At least in my eyes.

You took the first few lines of a Google search and ran with it. Came into the Gruden thread and slapped down .02 cents worth of info and wanted a dollars worth of proof.

News flash, I don't care if you think it's close minded to be told to gtfo.

I don't have time to hold another adults hand and lead them down the yellow brick road.

If truly gave a crap about the football program you would educate yourself about the best coaching.options out there.

Want some validation? I think Patterson is an excellent coach. So is David Shaw, so is Chip Kelley, and Scott Frost is another to keep an eye on. So is Dantonio at Mich. St. Peterson is an excellent coach.

How many of those would be realistic?

How many of those coaches have you read educated yourself on? If I was betting in it, judging from your weak Gruden argument, I would say not much.

Again, go spend a couple hours reading, it will do you some good.

okay guys, 2 things:
1) only by pride cometh contention
2) a soft answer turneth away wrath

both of y'all take step back ... breath ... and chalk it.
it's okay.
ain't neither one of you done anything to be on the list.

Here is my problem with this. There is a great big world outside the JON GRUDEN thread to say all of this. Why here?

Thing is that never did I say he was a bad coach and never did I say he couldn't succeed as a college coach. My point was that he is far from a guaranteed success like some are portraying him to be and that there are guys out there that Tennessee can get who are guaranteed to succeed.

No one is a guaranteed success. Strong at Texas, Harbaugh at Michigan is another example, jury is still out on that one.

There isn't enough money in the world to guarantee a successful coach.

I don't think Saban could duplicate his success at Tennessee. What you have going on a Bama is a perfect blend of a good coach, 100% support by the university, and boosters that have set their egos aside and let him do his thing while still supporting the program.

Until UT is willing to do that, we will never have that kind of success. We can compete, and with the right coach can win our share, but that kind of sustained domination will be almost impossible to do.

And it boils down to the culture and philosophy of the school and what importance they place on athletics.

If UT makes a bad hire, I bet they will wish they hadnt. They will lose this fanbase.

Shock and awe reminds me of my second marriage. In the beginning, when she would look at me, it was shock and awe. Towards the end it was shock and "naw"
hate it for ya but my first was a "aw shucks" I screwed up.....the second one, well we have been on a 17 year honeymoon, it helped that she convinced me that a "Happy wife is happy life" !

I wouldn't consider stating his career win % and college coaching experience to be weak or closed minded. Those are facts which last I checked are something of substance. I presented those facts and just asked what the big obsession with Gruden is. You're the one telling me to gtfo because you disagree with me which actually which actually makes you the closed minded one.

I don't know if you are a religious person or not, but here is my illustration. When "Nega's" come into the Gruden thread I picture them being like this. Let's say that you are of the Baptist persuasion. Instead of going to your baptist church every Sunday, you decide that you will go to the Methodist church. You walk in during the service, so that you can tell them that they are wrong and there is no way that their savior is coming.

Not only is it rude, but you are not worshiping with you own church. You came here to disagree with all in here. You are the antagonist. Grudens just want Grude.

Preacher, you're hilarious, and I like you, but KJV1611? That might put you on my list.

People are going to rip me but I'm not 100% on Gruden. Hasnt coached in 9 years, has never recruited and hasnt had to grind a 100 hours a week in a long time. Maybe it works if he hires an all-star staff but I'd still be worried.
