I agree man. And why would he wear black in the stands? I mean I can understand not being on the sideline, but makes me wonder if he did that for specific reasons. We all saw he had no problem with showing his support and wore UT gear against Northwestern in Tampa. JMO, but if he has no interest seems like he could put a lot of this to bed to coming out and saying that. Kinda like Stoops did. There will always be people who still think he would, but not near as many. He’s never really cane out and said that, which makes you think there IS interest for sure!!

While the grumors come back the same way as in 2012, this go around just seems very different in other ways.

That set of events is just nuts to me for somebody that many say "would never coach here".

He doesn't seem like an a$$hole and appears to at least pull for UT given his actions in the past. I don't see him crashing a game that way just for the circus it caused know where that would lead given the circumstances.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but....

No, but there are some scary ass names coming up out there. Mullen being at the top of that list. Hell, I even saw someone suggest Mark Stoops today.

The fan base is at the point of desperation right now. And pretty much anyone with a record over .500 (and even some that don't) is being mentioned.

Butch has given Stoops the beat down every time they have played. Let’s not hire another coach who the current coach out-coached in a game. Definition of illogical.

Of course, the grumors were not totally without substance in 2012. There was mutual interest between Tennessee and Gruden. It didn’t work out — Gruden would later say that “the timing wasn’t right” — but there was at least a few flickering flames behind all the smoke.

100% for sure had some sort of negotiations with him last time. So I’ll lean towards theory 1.

There were conversations, nothing more, out of respect for UT. It came to light how happy he was with ESPN gig and other income, such as madden games. We weren’t tipping the scales over $10mil a year then so just like now, people will embellish the grumors. I have no inside info on this round but my money is on us not even remotely having a deal with him.

Well after seeing what Griffith continues to say to the national media about our program he makes us look just as big of idiots as Butch does. Today he said no other coach in the country had rebuilt a program like Butch has at Tennessee. That Butch has shown he can rebuild a Power 5 team, now has to prove he can win Power 5 titles. That's a ridiculous statement. It's Year 5 and we have nothing to show for it in a historically week SEC.

More like anxiety. I think this team is falling apart quicker than the 2012 team. And it's going to get worse after this weekend. People want something done RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately, that's just the way people are these days. Instant gratification and results.

I have this feeling (outside of being told by others on here) everything is happening at a specific pace for a good reason. Can't tell you why, just a gut feeling.

We're in a marathon, not a sprint.

I see it that it was a prearranged trip... Caame to see his son. Then the coaching situation came into play. Any other time he would have neem on the sidelines. But with him knowing he might be the next coach... Im sure he felt it was best not to wear UT stuff and sit in the stands
