Yep, the Longhorn Network says hello for certain.

And Texas ain't giving that up as long as ESPN has to pay.

Lot of folks may not know but this fact about ESPN business model alone may make this a real possibility more so than any other factor. Huge status quo item that is different from 2012

The next round of cutbacks could come down in late November or early December, with 40-60 positions potentially being impacted, according to sources. The layoffs could hit both on-air TV/radio talent and behind-the-scenes production staffers.

"This time it won't matter if you're 'liked' or not. It's not going to be pretty," one source warned.

Another source expects the flagship "SportsCenter" franchise to lose people in front of and behind the camera. "I see (ESPN) going down a path where they have less staff — and hire more production companies to provide programs and fill air time."

Once a business starts using layoffs to increase OCF, it becomes like crack. Until ESPN can stop the revenue hemorrhage, we're just going to see more and more of this.

JG's salary, if it is near where reported, would cover the annual costs of 50-60 production staff or 15-20 "regular" on-air personalities. They may let him walk no questions asked and see it as a blessing. He's valuable to them, but they can get someone else to do what he does for a LOT less money.

Don't do it, Jake. Don't go to the dark side. Let the Gruden flow throw you. Trust the Gruden.

like we should with all things tennessee at this point, i'm taking a "believe it when i see it" approach. i'm going full Han Solo and saying "sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo if you ask me"

I believe if Jones wins out, he will be Tennessee’s coach in 2018 – if he wants to stay.

I believe anything short of a 5-0 finish and Jones is gone. You might argue that he could survive at 7-5 if the defeat is a close one to LSU. But I think it’s unlikely.

I believe Tennessee’s ineptness on offense makes it difficult for Tennessee to finish even 4-1.

I believe Tennessee without running back John Kelly – suspended for the Kentucky game for a drug citation – will struggle to score more than 14 points against the Wildcats.

There are a couple of X-factors: Home attendance for the Southern Miss game November 4 and the input from Jimmy Haslam and Peyton Manning.

And I believe this: Currie won’t tweet about tennis this weekend.

They have been working with "for hire " production companies for a while now. They don't have the resources to cover all the NCAA football and basketball games that they are contractually obligated to cover. There is one in mddle tennessee that they hire often, my oldest son works for them part time while he is finishing his journalism degree. He has already produced multiple games for ESPN over the last few years.

Heard this story today. Not making it up but can't vouch for accuracy. Story is that Currie wants to improve athletics across the board - noted that we used to win championships in swimming, track, etc. He wants to get both Gruden and Jim Bob Cooter - Gruden as head coach for three years and Jim Bob as assistant head coach and heir apparent.

I really hope it's true.
