MIT absolutely 100% said he thought that the firing would be before noon on Sunday after the Bama game.

If he did say that, the key word is “thought”. But I’ve followed before and after he showed up and didn’t see that. If he did, I’m sure someone quoted him and would be able to verify.

I JUST NEED TO VENT, skip if are looking for info!

Disclaimer:
Guys I'm a Gruden believer, and love this group in here. I need to vent a little, so please just skip if you don't want to read. No insight, inside info, theories... none of it is in this.
You guys are about the only ones I feel like talking to anymore and feel won't try to destroy me for posting.

I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. I feel like I just take hit after hit at the black jack table, raise my bet to try and win it back, all for it too keep happening. Knowing the end result.

I'm just tired of not seeing anything, even tho I know things have to be kept hush hush. I think the resentment caused by BJ and his smugness is what makes it worse for me. Every time he talks now I get furious. I've been tired of the results on the field, but I've had atleast the last 3 years to go thru the stages of grief(for two seasons we all gave him a pass). So sadly the results truly don't upset me anymore. I have as of this season finally grown numb to that part.

Now my frustration all hangs on the AD. It's not Butches fault he can't get it done, not everyone has what it takes, and he just doesn't:/. But it's the job of the university to find who can. And that's where the problem lies.

They would have allowed DD to stay on if it weren't for the fans who stopped coming to games. They behaved the same until 50k-60k a$$e$ were in the seats.

The athletic department could truly care less. They've grown accustomed to UT football bringing in the big money to support the other programs. And that money comes in despite the result on the field, so why get rid of a coach and pay him& his staff, and bring in a high cost coach& staff that will cut into their profits? Not saying I agree, just saying that's how I feel.

Seeing how the handled DD, ho me the were content with him truly set the tone for my feeling, and I see the same happening now. I became a huge fan while he was here(not because of him), so that's the beginning I can base my experiences on.

To all the posters with info, thank you. I truly "want" to believe you because I truly want better for the program. I'm just used to being let down, after being pumped up and invested on more occasions than you can remember.

To all the long time fans, I wish I knew how it felt to be a fan when their team was on top. I'm more than ever feeling like it's just not going to happen.

Jones should be fired for one reason alone. He hired an OC who last and only called plays for a High School in FL in 2004. What the %^$&^$%#^%^$%^%$ is he doing calling plays for the University of *&^&*&^&* Tennessee??? So between Mr Life leader reps and this guy, our players have to overcome waaaaaaayyy too much to even have a chance on offense. Touchdowns are things that happen in the land of Oz for our team. And it looks like Newbie AD is going to let this ride till end of season. I am out till then..God bless to all..Too Soon for Grude, even though I think they will make a run

It all makes sense now.

If I remember correctly Stephen Hargis reported that Gruden was talking to a friend of Hargis’ who was the head coach of a high school in Chattanooga. That high school coach was going to be the liaison between Gruden and Tennessee high schools.

Hargis also stated he read the texts from Gruden.

At this point I'm really beginning to wonder if he's even actually on the hot seat at all. I mean sure we are all pissed off and ranting. The media is talking about it more and more everyday. Yet, Lyle Allen is going about things like it's business as usual and Currie's biggest concern is tennis. Here I've been worried about us being trolled by some random guy on a message board and it's looking like the real troll job might be coming from the program itself.

He has to be on the hotseat. He has lost more SEC games in 36 tries than Fulmer in over 100.

There is a reason why he hasn't been fired.

It could be that Currie wants a replacement ready to step in, could be that Currie is playing chicken with Butch and his agent, could be that Currie is really bad at this and just feeling his way through it.

One thing is for certain, I don't have a clue what is really going on. Doubt very many do.

I think info is gonna come like a monsoon on the plains of Africa, months of drought and then boom, we will be flooded with everything that went on behind the scenes.

Depending on who they hire will show if Currie is an evil genius or another Hart.

Tbh, I would hate to be Currie. To me it seems like he is stuck between an AA that really could care less about a relevant football program, boosters that are used to getting their way, and a pissed off fanbase.

Hope he has the skills to juggle all that and do what's best for the program.

how will recruiting be salvaged when the early signing period is in december?

That is just an early signing period (Dec 20), 3 days I believe. The main (regular) signing period will be when most commit. Because of the hire, that will also change any that are "on the fence". JMO and from some observations.

Interesting. My point was that going to a public school puts you at a huge disadvantage. It's very rare and the fact that you knew 3 people at MIT alone is an anomaly. Also, I don't want to turn this into a race thing, but that comes into play even though universities will deny it to the death. White and middle class puts you at a disadvantage when applying for college. For example, I knew another guy in my senior class at Cleveland. His parents were from Africa (they were immigrants) so he was first generation American. He had a GPA that was .5 lower than mine and he scored 9 points lower than me on the ACT. Very similar extracurriculars. We both applied to Vandy and we both got in. They offered him 30k per year in scholarships and I didn't get offered a cent. No hard feelings about it or anything, I'm just pointing out that college admission offices do care about these things.

This is a little off subject, but I am not sure it puts you at a huge disadvantage, but I agree there is some. My wife went to Vandy, her sister went to Vandy, her brother went to Wash U, Princeton, and just moved from being a prof at Penn to Columbia. I went to Pepperdine after my PhD. All of us are products of public schools.

I do think there could be a correlative relationship, but not necessarily a causal one on higher acceptance rates from private schools. If your parents care enough (and can afford...which my family could not) to pay for your education at a private school...that means there is a high probability that you will share their belief in the importance of education. Because 100% (or very close) of those people are paying, you would expect a higher percentage of those who value education vs a school that is free with your tax dollars. That leads to higher success rates for those from those schools, which feeds into the whole thing.

Anyway, maybe its just my field but I work with lots of folks from the ivies and MIT. Some of the folks are impressive and some aren't. Just like having 5 stars in recruiting is a good indicator that the athlete in question will be successful; being from one of the top schools is also....however we all know that there are a lot of 5 star busts as well.

Sorry for the ramble.

This was his tweet a couple weeks ago. Might be the best tweet over this whole ordeal.

"Just sayin if I'm having lunch with Vic & JG calls him (again) to gauge interest in joining staff as HS liaison, I ain't tellin y'all sh!t 😂"

"Consider" doesn't mean a whole lot. I've considered an awful lot of things in my life that I didn't actually do. Some long and hard. Others for about 0.8 seconds. But, I considered them.

Yea but everyone not a Vols fan has said why would he even consider it. Lol

Well done. You might be right...I’ve followed this thing for awhile and know who and who not to pay attention to, in my mind at least. I think y’all are onto something.

Who knows brother. Who knows. Too much coincidence or enough of a trail leading me to believe.
Time will tell. Till then ... I am leaving my secret squirrel background in the broom closet.

The 72-hour early signing period between the dates of Dec. 20 to 22. The dates will coincide with the first three days of the midyear JUCO signings.

Would give Gruden a month to get the kids realize whats up and bring more and he probably wouldn't need a month.
