The Kentucky game is likely the line of demarcation. Everyone knew we weren't winning that Bama game, and everyone knew it was going to be a blow out, so there was no reason to be surprised or act out of emotion immediately after it. If Butch can't handle Kentucky things will start moving very quickly following that game.
But, that is positioning us as a football program that measures its success based on Kentucky. Not Alabama or Georgia.
Yeah, we all knew that Alabama was going to wax us. But, THAT'S the problem. It's year 5 of Butch's leadership - we should be COMPETITIVE against the elite teams in the conference.
If we want to settle for only being competitive against the middling teams and bottom feeders - I do think Butch can have us there long term. However, it's beyond clear that he will not have us competitive against the elite of the conference.
If we want to be Kentucky and South Carolina long term... then ok. Let's start managing our expectations.
