Illated94 hasn't posted anything of good info other than just a retweet. Stating that if butch gets 6 wins... He is safe.I doubt numbers are thrown out yet. I've been lurking and reconing all of these posts. I think I've figured out who to believe and not to believe.
I just think early signing period plays a huge roleI think there are definite financial advantages to wait to later in the season to make the change. If their are clauses that are going to save UT money they will take advantage of them. Also, other coaches who might be considered will not want the media attention being a hindrance. Even The Great Gruden would not want to deal with all of the media questions to distract from his MNF role.
This is a lost season and UT will let it play out to show their fairness in dealing with Butch. When he loses bowl eligibility they can say they have to do something to salvage the program. Hiring the right coach will save the recruiting class.
The critical factor in a new coach to me is ability to recruit, developing players, and the ability to develop an aggressive offensive line who can maul people. I am tired of 4 and 5 star talent being wasted because we are playing with a sissy offense. These players are being cheated.
Larry thank you so much for being cool and keeping us in the loop all these years. Please continue to post my friend.Larry Smith. Retired. Be 70 in December. Worked in IT for 48 years with 3 different companies in Nashville. Now golf 3-4 times per week and live in Mount Juliet.
Been a member of the Tennessee Fund since its inception in 1986. A donor.
Have 14 season tickets in Section B. All about the 35 yard line. Have had season tickets since 1976.
Know many people in the athletic department. Don't talk with as much anymore as I did even 5 years ago. Over the 50 years (starting going in 1965) I have been going to UT games I have made hundreds of friends that are fans of Tennessee and much closer to many in the athletic department than even I am. That is the reason I don't have to stay plugged into the AD as much anymore. I rarely have to call people for information. Lot of people contact me and keep me up to date.
I have many friends in the media. Hubbs, Lewis, Brice, Rucker, Low, Callahan to name a few. Have known most several years and some a decade or more.
Was close with Coach Fulmer and assistants on his staff for several years. Still communicate with coach. Know many players and their families going back to the early 90s. Stay in contact with many.
I never post anything from a single source. Has to be more than one and those sources independent of each other. I have posted things in the last 20 years that UT has called me about. Multiple times. Stuff they didn't like.
That is my background.
this link is to my YouTube channel. Many videos I have (over 900 individual games) were given to me from UT's library. Enjoy them anytime.

While I have nothing on which to base this rationale, other than some logic and reasoning, I would like to throw out a scenario.
Maybe BJ is given the rest of the season. He is officially terminated (or resigns) the week of November 27. The season is over (i.e., no bowl game). No need for an interim. Search is "officially" started. This gives the AD a few weeks to confirm and announce the new HC before the December 20 early signing period. Most importantly, it is not a rushed process, everything gets worked out, the ink dries, etc.
Again, just my thoughts, not based on anything other than my scrambled brain.
That's done and over with. He was coaching in the NFL by the time that mess come along.
