This is exactly where I’m at with this. Either he will come or he won’t, but I know it won’t be because we aren’t putting our best foot forward with this.

This is exactly where we need to be. Let us do our best, and never be ashamed that we could have tried harder.

Good night Gruden faithful. Sweet Gruden dreams. Tomorrow is one day closer to the rebirth of Tennessee Football. Be of good cheer!

From the comments on 247. I dont know what there is to it but it makes for Grude conversation.

Steven Hargis (Chattanooga Times Free Press writer) was on ESPN 105.1 the zone one day last week and re-told his 2012 Gruden story. Hargis was at lunch with Vic Grider (local HS football coach) when Grider (who is really good friends with Gruden) got a phone call from JG. Hargis asked what the 5 min conversation was about and Gruden was asking if Grider would be interested in joining his potential staff at Tennessee as a high school liaison (not sure the technical position, but goes on recruiting visits with coaches). Gruden told him that boosters with Tenn had reached out to him to gauge his interest, he told them he would be interested in talking. The boosters told him to put together a staff and let them know what it would take $ wise. The University did not reach out to Gruden, only boosters. Apparently the University did not want to meet his demands (which lines up with other info we have heard) and it never happened.

The point is, in 2012 Gruden was interested at least to some degree. We were in much worse shape back then and he was still fairly new in his MNF football role at a much more stable than now ESPN. To me that has to count for something.

New FWIW, a 250k type donor told me yesterday that Currie said "whatever it takes to get Gruden"... to put it in context though, he could be figuring out if it's feasible and only if a change is needed, not that it's happening.

Sounds like some exploration is occurring.

It’s such a pipe dream that I don’t believe any of it. Especially since Lyle still hasn’t been fired.

If Gruden is actually interested and these idiots don't acquiesce to him this time then I'm convinced the administration is actually working against Tennessee football succeeding than working for it.

Incredible to me that they would not bend over backwards for someone like Jon Gruden to save this program.

Just to try to keep things level headed here, remember what Atlanta Vol said about Gruden (that he's not even on Currie's radar in any way).

However, that was a week ago so maybe something has changed since then.

Unfortunately I remember. Also, what coasty said earlier. It's a mixed bag of info. I suspect nobody knows except a few ppl and they're not letting it out.
