No it doesn't. College football might be a lower level but that does not mean it is easier to be a great college coach than a great pro coach. To be a great college coach, you have to be a good tactician but also a good recruiter. I don't know how much recruiting Gruden did during his college career, but his last college gig was back in 1991 as Pitt's WR coach. I know he's a great personality and that would probably serve him well on the recruiting trail, but I'd rather have a guy who has demonstrated an ability to do it in the past.

Also, the only reason you can say above average NFL coach is because he won that Super Bowl with Dungy's team. If you remove his last 2 years in Oakland and the first year in Tampa, his NFL coaching career is the definition of mediocrity. He was a completely average head coach for the rest of the 8 years he was in the league, and only went 57-55 in Tampa overall.

To use the argument that he won with Dungy’s team, would you not have to account for the fact that he was also playing his previous team. Splitting hairs.

Nothing new, and as a doc who knows where you are...
if you have more exams pending stay the heck away from the gruden thread. It's like crack to crackhead and will senselessly eat up more time than you will want to give.

Ps- congrats and best of luck. It's a hard road but amazing

Thanks Sobe! I was around during the "original" Gruden mania and it was a blast, but before my med school days. I try and catch up at night after all my studying is done.

It's fun to imagine the first time we run through the T with Nick on the sideline. AC/DC Walk all Over You playing, Nick and his boys all pee a little.

Started to say you probably lost half of VN going all the way back to Bon Scott days but let's be honest, you were probably going to lose a third of them using any band that plays actual instruments.

I am very proud to say I have seen Bon Scott AC/DC and Brian Johnson AC/DC.

Several years ago I argued, for a second, with a 16 year old telling me Back in Black was their first album, I mean CD. Lol.

So now that Gruden is a done deal, lets talk staff.

Who would be the top OC/DC?

Only Asst's i could say for sure is

OC Peyton
Oline-Chad Clifton
QB Gruden handles this
Rb-Travis Henry (great recruiting in for all those kids about to be college age)
S&C- AL Wilson

I cant decide on D at all?

This is how I'd roll

And............
Nothing new today

We better get used to it. We are now in a holding pattern until Butch loses enough games that they have to pull the switch.

An SC loss might do it. If followed by a Bama loss, it should do it.

An SC win, followed by a Bama loss, probably extends it through Ky.

An SC win followed by a Bama win...he probably gets a raise and extension unfortunately.

So, we are very likely looking at late October and even into November.

Wow. Ahh 16.
My kids are all about Bon. They love all the songs from both but we have the Family Jewels video and watching Bon on the stage, just makes them over-energetic lol

I do not have enough whiskey to wait that long.
