As I heard it Mr. Manning marshalled financial support, and gained some concessions on control issues like the Thornton Center. Financial support was pledged for the right coach, individuals who had been an obstruction in previous situations were brought on board more or less, and Currie was given full support to get a BIG hire.
Two people have now given me that same description nearly verbatim.
Do you know there are stories or is that a hunch?
Wake up Grudenites! You're letting the fire go out!
Other coaching threads are popping up with names like Scott Frost. This cannot stand. The Great and Mysterious Gruden must be assured of our devotion.
Heard about unhappy players and locker room issues for three years. Just look at the ones that went public. They're not isolated, and certainly not exclusively on the players. If you know relatives or friends of players or AD personnel, like lots of people in Knoxville do, you hear this stuff.
Ran into a guy in Gatlingburg today that had on a classic UT hat. I looked at him and say the customary "Go Vol's!!"
Then he said something that blew my mind.
"Soon, my big orange friend, it will be Gruden time in Tennessee!!"
He explained that the team isn't going to show up against SC, laying another egg, "egg by egg".
Then the hammer will drop and Jones will be gone shortly after the game goes final.
Monday press conference will be to introduce the Interim coach as they work up a contract for Gruden and his assistants.
Then we finished our moonshine tasting and said ..
"Good Ole Rocky Top!! Wooooo!"
Any truth to the rumors that UT will start playing in prime time on Monday nights when Gruden is coach?
