Here's my theory:

Boosters negotiate what-ifs with Gruden for weeks if not months.
Gruden verbally agrees in principal to basic things.
Boosters take deal to Hart and he is not on board but reluctanly agrees.
Gruden and Hart can't come to terms on details and Gruden says screw it.
Hart tells boosters "get the F%ck out of my way I am making this hire"
Hart fails miserably by getting turned down by several coaches and embarassing UT
Boosters tell Hart "we tried it your way now we're gonna do it our way"
Boosters tell Hart to "give Gruden what he want or GTFO"

I think we are at the point where we are trying to give Gruden everything he's asked for.

Just to make sure I have this correct, roughly 23 hours ago we were told that Jon Gruden will be announced in 24 hours (or less?). Now we're being told that stuff's going to start to leak? Media leakage (not much unlike anal leakage) is a far cry from an announcement.

Interesting that you ask. Want to explain why? Most that live in Sevier and Cocke county know the deal behind this restaurant and why it's called a "club" Been there many times when I was small to eat. Also, did you know this is only 3 miles from somebody’s mother in laws house?

Fulmer coaches a year to restore pride and class and to put this thing to rest not to mention stop the embarrassment. Then next year Chavis promotes and Fulmer replaces Hart as AD. We'd have an AD that loves his school with a passion and has "his guy" as HC day one.

Agree. Worked out for Synder at K State. Would rather have Fulmer back than most of these other names being tossed around. I'm hoping the boosters have indeed reached out to gruden again, but all these conspiracy theories/smokescreens I'm just not buying.

It's the dead period for talking to recruits, so I'd think that would be fine.

My recollection was that money was not the issue, but control and related issues. And folks like Haslam aren't too keen on the inmates running the asylum. If Gruden's conditions or demands were excessive, I can sure see Haslam turning away. If nothing significant happens at UT without his blessing, you can bet he's not going to support Gruden if the deal is not in the best interests of the University.
