Awesome! Hope is something you develop for yourself, its called faith, and lots round here lack it...I tend not to rely on others for my happiness...thats all Im sayin. GBO!

If faith is blindly believing someone on the Internet, then no, I do not have faith. I don't need faith in them or even hope to be happy. That's a bit absurd is even suggest that.

Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.

Total sense to say that considering its a statement that can never be authenticated, and it makes people believe that you are anywhere near those controlling the decision-making around this hire. Neither of which is the case. Carry on.

Its pretty well known now that some boosters did not support the hire. I believe lots of people knew that. No reason to think Hyams doesnt know who it was that didnt support Gruden.

I just cant see why he would confirm it was Haslam on the air to some random caller who happened to ask.

Makes NO sense for Hyams to lie rather than just say "I dont know" or "I wont speculate on that".

I'm sure it's already been posted about and I apologize, but I just heard Hyams say that Haslam doesn't support Gruden. I've been relatively quiet about Knoxville media and people supposedly "in the know" with UT football, but this upsets me. And I mean really infuriates me.

How does someone this stupid and clueless get to be so popular? And why do people listen to a single word that comes out of his mouth? I hate calling people this because I have more respect for humanity than most, but Hyams is a liar. A flat out liar.

Haslam has been behind Gruden since before this season started. He has been all about bringing Gruden to Tennessee. I DARE YOU TO FIND A CREDIBLE SOURCE OR PIECE OF INFORMATION THAT PROVES ME WRONG.

I cannot believe this guy is so well liked and respected. He should be shipped to a foreign country for how clueless he is.

I'm sorry, my rant is over. But this just infuriates me. The wrong people are being listened to

Sounds like there is some serious work being done behind the scenes today. Outlook positive from what I am hearing.

For future reference 'the elephant' is and will always be Gruden. He is still in play. I cannot say that he is signed, sealed and delivered.

My sources say exactly the same thing.

Don't buy into the Massington to UT stuff. Massington was considering UT before he decommitted from USC anyway. He was at our camp this year. The bigger and more interesting story is that it is classic scumbag Kiffin who told him he can't enroll early a month before classes start and now he has to scramble.

People are way overthinking this. Smokescreens are everywhere, hubbs articles are part of it. Everybody just keep your hands and feet inside the train at all times. Be patient. Soon...

what i find very odd:

Im all in for gruden. with that said the reason why i have belief in any of this gruden stuff is the fact that

1. why have we not heard from bray hunter and patterson about leaving? no official declaration, which make me belief that they might get the GRU. also the fact that the media is saying that our next targets are butch jones and kirby smart. if they knew that they were gonna land one of them, i feel that they might have already declared.. IMO

2. why the hell did we offer strong, fedora, and gundy first? they arent the best options we could get at all. the media is all over saying our next options are smart and jones. but dont mention names like Greg Roman, Hue Jackson, or Bo Pelini who all have apparent interest of the vacancy... that makes me have reason to believe that this GRUDEN stuff just might be true, because if you didnt have your guy already then why would u offer strong, fedora, and gundy first over those other guys like Roman, Pelini, and Jackson... just doesnt make sense to me..maybe thats just me

Go Gru or Go home.. I pray he comes

The players not deciding has nothing to do with it. They don't know anything. They have until sometime in mid-January to decide, so why would you declare right now anyway? Who knows what changes? I would never advise a kid to declare in December. Spend the time to review your options.

A post I thought was worth sharing from VQ...

Hart said in his Presser that everything would play out in December. I think everything is going along his plan, and in the end he will come out of this looking like a genius.

In the movie The Sting, Paul Newman and Robert Redford played confidence men who burned the Mafia Guy played by Robert Shaw. The key to the sting was that they had to do it without the target ever knowing he was being made. I think Hart is doing just that.

If we got a splash hire, The biggest impediment to the Success of the Football program would be the academic side. Hart answers to Cheek, who in turn answers to the Faculty Senate. They hold the keys to the kingdom. I suspect Hart is orchestrating panic in the coaching search to manipulate the academics side of the campus. He knows if the turbo-donors are stressing with the hiring, they will ask what seems to be the problem!. Hart and Cheek can point their fingers at the academic powers that be. The donors will root out the problems.

The Senate has been squeezing the goose that lays the golden eggs so long they have begun to take football money for granted. Hart can point to lousy revenue streams from the Troy and Ky games as a harbinger of things to come. Hart can use the financials to show the Senate their controls over the football program are cutting into their future income.

My theory is that Hargis at the times free press has been leaked info by the Turbo-donors. They want Gruden and they tried to advance his hire, but Hart didn't want to do so until he had pressured the admin side a lot more to get them moving towards changes. I think Hargis's source was Grider. They both live in South Pittsburgh and Hargis has covered Grider for years. Grider is best friends with Gruden, they vacation together. Their wives are tight. I think he was provided documentary evidence from Grider to advance the Gruden hire.

Gruden is making well north of $400k per week on Monday Night Football. He likes the gig. He has two more shows to do. There is no reason to give that up. The recruiters have been on the trail saying, something big is on the way, keeping commits, and even prospects' interests high. I think Hart has the Gruden deal in his hip pocket and has for some time, but he can't reveal his "sting"or he has lost his leverage on the Senate. He needs for people to panic.

When Mike Grundy said no to a lateral move, followed by Strong, our fans started to pucker. The alarm was palpable.

"Oh No! We lost Gruden! "

Then it's, "Oh No! fisher is not interested!"

Then it's, "Oh No! We lost Gundy!"

Then it's,, Oh No! We lost Strong!"

Fans had thought the hard fighting Hart had lost over and over and over.

My theory is Hart wants the pretext that The solid coaching prospects don't want to come here because of the academic stuff. Hart needs the fans and boosters to be angry.

"How can all the other SEC schools get a coach and we can't? Hart wants you to think that. He wants leverage on the academic side.

Gruden is enjoying the attention. He keeps getting the attention. delay is to his advantage. The current UT staff is keeping in touch with recruits. He can come in in two weeks and be the hero to rescue the team from the smouldering ashes. Once the NFL season is over part of his staff will immediately be available. Hart will be able to get a little more money from the boosters to pay Gruden's all star assistants that he is assembling. Grider will be on staff with his buddy. Gruden's kids will be at Webb. The fans will be ecstatic. Hart's job is secure, Cheek will be out from under so much control from the Senate . And the senate will be thankful their goose is back in the golden egg business.

Flame away. This theory ties all the conflicting ends together.

Ok, here is my conspiracy theory. SIAP.
Haslam knew Hart was a hard head and wasn't going to be on board with paying a coach and his staff what it would take to get him. Therefore, Haslam played good cop and supported Hart telling him to go get his own guy. Rope to hang himself. Hart does just that. Now returns with his tail between his legs and Haslam puts his arm around his shoulder and says Dave I can help get you out of this.
I don't know as it as good as anything else I'm hearing! HA!

What say you Boomer? How are things looking today?

Unless Hyams has now become part of the smoke screen. That could mean we're getting close to an announcement. :)

Regarding what Hyams said, Hargis' article, and the Gruden talk resurfacing here's my theory on what happened. Hargis had it right when he said assistant's pay was the holdup in the Gruden deal. That is the point where Haslam told Hart to get up from the table and go find a coach. Now that Tennessee and Hart have egg on their faces we'll see if Jim wants to negotiate with Gruden again. Nothing happens at the University of Tennessee without the support of Jim Haslam.

Sounds reasonable.

Exactly. And Im gonna swallow every bit of drivel the inner circles of knox news will throw at me...does everyone understand how that works...media access and all??

I had never heard Haskews name until a few weeks ago. However, I am certain he knows more than what he is saying.

hint: He is close friends with Grider & Hargis and also knows Papa Haslam
