His 24 hour post was at 6:10 PM last night, so technically, he shortened his window saying between 3 and 6.

Technically today he said leaks would occur between 3 and 6, not an announcement. He did say 24 hours last night, which I took as an announcement, which Boomer_Vol said he was right just premature. However, he could have meant leaks within 24 hours.

No way we announce tonight with the College Football awards. That takes away from our announcement and the players achievements on the field.

Well if I am that means that these boosters have a whole lot more stake in this than I thought. Meaning this is more than just a contract to them and if they want it the deal will be done....

Hyams said Tuberville would be good because he is "media friendly". Some of the most successful coaches are currently ones who dont hit it off with media. Saban, Spurrier, Meyer. In fact, 2 of those had public spats with media. Media want a media friendly coach, one that will give them info.

Why Rucker is against Gruden, wants a small time coach to keep giving him info

When Bielema got hired at Arkansas after everything we heard there, I realized that nothing is quite as it appears in these coaching searches...

I think it is funny that you did not hear much about Arky or Auburn making offers, conducting interviews etc--until the names were announced.

And you didn't hear anything about our search until yesterday, when it supposedly became 100% transparent. Now, that could be bungling by our AD, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Hyams is generally very conservative with his answers. Typically he will say "I wont speculate" or something like that.

I really dont see why Hyams would just come out and say something about our biggest booster if it were not true. It's one thing to say "I wont say who the booster was", but it's another to say who the booster was.

I agree, but it seems as though Hyams has been spot on with all the surrounding events, as much as I hate him. I just hope he is wrong about the big picture...

I heard this over a week ago, but kept it to myself, as I could not verify whether it was true or not. No need to add to the rumor mill IMO.

I recall some posts indicating that at least one of the big $ guys was not behind the hire, but I never saw anything to indicate which one(s). If my memory serves me correct, I believe it was over control issues and not necessarily money. So, I'm tending to believe Hyam's report.

Now, have things and feelings changed, who knows...but people like Haslam are very rarely out-negotiated. If they don't like a deal, they either walk or get the concessions they feel are necessary. It doesn't feel like this might happen here.

As much as I'd love to see UT land Gruden, when you hear reports like this and the only things supporting him coming here are completely unsupported rumors and claims, you truly have to wonder.

That would only be the case if he was lining up Gruden for the Cleveland Browns. I was in Cleveland on Monday to visit with a client, it's about a 4 hour drive for me. Anyhow, Cleveland sports radio definitely was talking up the possibility of Gruden in Cleveland. FWiW
