I think Basilio is right. There is a group that wants Gruden, but they can't get the necessary people on board to make it happen. And, not just Hart and/or Cheek, but other influential boosters as well.

Like somebody else keeps saying - I'm all in until I see someone else sitting behind the mic at the announcement presser. Friends & family want to believe, so they ask me "Devil's advocate" questions constantly, the only one I don't have an answer for is, 'If these are all smokescreens/delays? Why necessary?" I say "I guess MNF" - I do wonder about the above scenario - surely there's not one group of Allan Jones type boosters holding out for Fulmer, loved CPF back when, but Gruden is the man for today!

This is my first post, but I have been lurking as a "guest" for a few weeks now.

I know some of the "big time boosters" from the Chattanooga/Cleveland area personally. I would never ask them who it will be, because they are business men who know how to keep their mouths shut...they wouldn't tell me.

What I do know is that these are men who are used to getting what they want. If they are at the Ferrari dealership and negotiations break down, they aren't going to leave and head for the Chevy dealership. NO! They are going to go to the Lamborghini dealership or the Maserati dealership. If they were in the market for Gruden and things fell apart, they aren't going to go for ole Tubbs.

I am all in on Gruden, but if that has truly fallen apart, I feel confident that we will still end up with an exceptional coach.

Screwing up a done deal and making the world think we can't hire a coach and have people laugh at us. That would seal the deal. IMO.

But, somebody hinted that we should get up 10-15 minutes early this morning in order to read the physical TFP paper. Supposedly this came from a TFP writer on twitter.

I don't think there is any conspiracy or smoke screen. I think last week was a feeler so that that everyone knew what it would cost to get Gruden. Once they did, they started shopping around to see what they could get for less.

If it is true that the boosters created a "Gruden only" money pool, maybe Hart shopped the market to see what he could get without it? It looks like he's not having much luck.

With everything else falling through, perhaps it is points everything back to Gruden.

I agree that it makes everything look really bad, but we are a "live in the moment" society these days. No matter what, it will come down to who we hire, not about the process itself.

Your description is kind of how I've been thinking about it. But I'm having trouble imagining the willingness of parties involved to play it this way, knowing that if it comes out we were just "testing" the waters, how angry it would make the schools who gave their coaches a raise and extension because we were fishing around. If I were an AD at Louisville or OSU right now, I'd be ready to literally kills UT's Administrators. Completely unethical. There's alot of layers to this that we don't know and may never know.

This is where I stand. I believe Gruden and the boosters have had talks/negotiations. I believe Hart has screwed this and everything else up. Harts "level of expertise" sucks IMO

Anyone heard from Y4B?

I'm not getting wind of anything referring to today besides my news guy that said something within 24hrs, but still unsure about him.

This is completely off topic, but does anyone know if that "cattleman" or I think he goes by the name Mike - posts on here? I used to hear him call in on the ANML and just heard him call in on TSR. Just curious

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Listening to one of the national shows, and they were making fun and saying maybe Cindy Gruden would coach UT since she used to be a cheerleader. I've been all Gruden all the time but I'm thinking UT is just a freakin mess and they have no backup plan and were going to end up with a Dooley .5 I'm losing it this morning.
