Tee just isn’t ready in my opinion. As an OC, sure, but not as a head coach. He hasn’t been pursued by any other big schools, and there’s a reason for that. He simply hasn’t built the resume to inspire confidence he can compete at a major level. After another two or three years as a solid offensive coordinator? Maybe, but not right now. Not only do you risk hiring the wrong guy, wasting millions, and have to re-start the process 3-4 years down the road, but you also risk permanently ruining his coaching career if he fails horribly and doing potential irreparable damage to his ties to the school if you’re forced to fire him.

If he had more of a background to make it look like less of a gamble then yeah, you can roll those dice. But being a good recruiter and winning a championship here doesn’t ensure success. It only ensures the breakup will be that much more devastating when it inevitably happens.

what does it say. work has twitter blocked

Tee Martin is open to the possibility of coming to Tennessee to be the OC & potential Associate HC if the fit is right in terms of who is hired as Head Coach, I can confirm tonight. First reported by @GrantRamey.

Behr is a habitual attention whore and just wanted some e-cred.

If UT were going to have a Press Conference tomorrow how much time would they need to prepare?

They could easily get together a press conference tomorrow if they finalize the head coach tonight. I mean, there is the fact that everybody's in New York right now, I guess, but that's what private planes are for.

When they did the Fulmer/Davenport press conference it was what, about 3-4 hours beforehand that they announced it?

We had deals with multiple people (Schiano, Leach, Brohm), but they didnt get finalized under very strange circumstances. We went after people (often with just phone calls) who we knew would simply get a raise (Gundy, Dorean - who otherwise would have just fallen into category 1). Also strange circumstances. We've interviewed multiple people (Morris, Tucker, Steele) but also chose not to sign any of them.

And lastly, we've had multiple coaches (Les, Tee) beg for the job. Again, nothing signed.

Logic. To me. Says we've been delaying this process (and taking extreme public ridicule) NOT because everyone "says no". It's because we don't want to say "yes" to anyone, until our main target tells us no.

That main target is Jon F. Gruden.

Bottom. Line.
