The common theme among those supposedly being interviewed: They are all defensive coordinators. Steele, Venables, Tucker, Pruitt....

Could it be that Gruden wanted Phil to help him find a good DC? Gruden is more offensive minded than defensive minded.. and defense is a huge part of winning in the SEC... So they could be out interviewing the Top DC's in the nation to bring on with Gruden. This is something I'm sure he would look to Phil for help with.

No help needed. I need you to make this happen financially. AD's have other responsibilities than interviewing.

Only thing that makes sense. No report of 2nd "interviews" for Morris, Venables, etc. Just Tucker/Steele and a conversation with Tee. Leading into Tuesday night when Fulmer wanted things wrapped up.

Said the odds dropped if Eli was returning

Add Robbie G to that list and you have a powerhouse in recruiting.

Of all the staff that deserves a chance at interviewing with a new HC, he's about the only one.
