They talked to Gruden after the game and as they were signing off, they said we will see you next week in Miami, and there was just an awkward pause and gruden said nothing.

I thought it was just me thinking this was weird and then others started posting what a weird and awkward exchange it was

I made a comment last night about "Negotiation 101." The leaks about Miles and Petersen are straight negotiations on UT's behalf. It's a subtle message someone was sending to Gruden. "Look, we like what you bring and we want what you bring. And we've been very generous with our offer. But seriously, we can get the same quality of product from these other guys. Probably for less money too. But we want you specifically. But we can't and won't wait around forever."

And then you let it be heard you might be looking around. And those looks are semi-serious to gauge interest and to put other options on the table. Either the ego of the original party kicks in and they back off with a huff or they are forced into accepting your terms because they see you aren't messing around.

agree about Currie. and that is just a result of the poorly handled beginnings of the search with haslam and currie singling out Schiano, and that was that.

they had no plan. i do think it's evident that Fulmer and has group have a plan. they've done this much better than the last group. the sad part is, had all of this been done 3 weeks ago, how much better off would we be today? i'm not sure how much leverage we really have at this point, aside from money. if Gruden is that guy, then if i were him, if there's some timing or money related issue, that is worth me waiting on, then i call TN's bluff and dare them to hire Chad Morris because he would say yes before i will.

so i think it's important that while i think everyone agrees with you and I, that this search process is better, it may simply just be too late to get a guy, or THE guy, a lot of us could agree on.

long way of saying, better process, won't necessarily result in an as good/better coach, this late in the game.

I doubt he gets caught off guard many times so this is somewhat interesting.

I mean hell he even had an off the hip answer for the giants thing...

He might be interested if Eli comes back...

If we end up with someone other than Gruden I sure as hell hope Brohm doesn't end up in the SEC East.

Best coach on the table among B listers. And by that I mean those that don't have as big of a name yet in case that wasn't obvious.

This is one of the best descriptive updates that we have had. Your thought are in line with my thought. I get information from different angles as well. You are more connected to inner sources.

I am a little pessimistic because of Gruden’s decision in 2012. Also because of the media and other conduits. I just feel like we have been burned before.

But I have a feeling he is coming. I may be setting myself up for disappointment. But at this point knowing what I know. If he turns us down, after all his opportunities to say I love you but don’t want to coach college. I will question his intent, motives and if he was not just trolling. He might was even the little Chucky himself.💉🔪🧟

We would still have Haslam and his puppet, so I think it's already worked out for the best. The only down side is how we've been drug through the mud perceptually, but frankly I don't give a damn about that as long as we get Gruden.

It's fun to touch base with this thread. Reading of mysterious determinations above based on "awkward pauses" and sounds of a voice on a broadcast channel. Lol, the exchanges during the MNF game last night were comical, some had to have run parallel with what takes place in mental institutions and the paranoid committed there.

I have no idea who AV is, but I do know he went through here a few weeks back giving free tickets to the LSU (I think) game to just about anyone who asked. That alone deserves some respect.
