Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVIII

I watched MNF until halftime and shut it off. Gruden did seem perkier than last week. Hopefully if he turns us down, an official statement will be released. We need closure.

In it to win it!

I kind of took Gruden's no comment last night on MNF as a bad thing. Also his partner said "if you had just answered the call and said yes you could have saved them an awful lot of trouble" To me that was him saying he got a call but didn't say yes. Anyone else think that is correct?

I think it was his partner poking fun at the Grumors. Dont think Gruden wants to rub salt in the wound, so he doesnt really respond.

The chemistry between Grude and Sean is awful, but yes, I came to a similar conclusion. It was an odd exchange.

I'm 40 pages behind after going to be (what was I thinking?) but after hearing JGs comments last night he is either the biggest ******* in the world or he wants the job. That's now three references.

He could have easily told McDonough any discussion about UT is off the table and if you bring it up on air I will rip your throat out, but he obviously didn't do that. In fact, the bit seemed planned IMO.

So, I'm going to lean toward the view that he wants to come because everything I've ever heard about him is that he is a nice guy. Therefore, it's on Fulmer to make it happen but I still don't believe he is going to offer the AAV on the salary or the control. Just not Phils way. I hope I'm wrong, but I just can see him giving it up.

It sounded more like a mouthy co-host poking fun. With that said, Gruden had the perfect opportunity to walk through the open door and dispel any rumor. Instead, he went quiet. What does that mean, no idea.

Yes I agree with that....But I am at very low % he is our coach at this point. To me that was him letting someone else kinda of do his dirty work. The guy said if you had just
answered the call and said yes....so sounds like he got a call and didn't say yes

Got a question, after we hire a coach, where are we gonna go to talk crap about all things good like alcohol and the vols, we gonna have a coach tread from now on...

I don't think you can read anything--one way or the other--into either of the exchanges last night.

I've personally taken a "I'll believe it when I see it" approach to all of this, and that is the approach I will continue to take.

Phil is a former coach and IMO he knows what the challenges are to a coach. So I think, within reason, the agrees to the control thing.

I’m such a dweeb on Twitter. While I’m looking for any nuggets of info, I reply to a Sara Clark tweet. Then I see the symbol that new tweets are available. Excitedly, I go back to the top of the page.......
<sigh> it’s my reply.
