agreed.

bring him and Sam Pittman, and i could start to be ok with it. would need a really, really good OC..

I can only get behind Tucker as a Coordinator....do not want as a HC.

Why would he leave Georgia right now for another DC position?

“On Monday evening, former quarterback Peyton Manning is hosting a dinner with many key Tennessee people. Noted boosters the Haslam's, Charlie Anderson, Larry Pratt, and others are scheduled to be in attendance. As is Fulmer and Duke head coach David Cutcliffe. The group could make for an interesting evening for sure given the personalities scheduled to be there.”

Afternoon update from VQ mods.

Whoa, talk about wanting to be a fly on the wall! Someone get a listening device planted, STAT!

I sure wish PF and co would entertain Kiffin! Yeah he left us in the middle of the night. He knows he screwed up! Most have forgiven him! UT football needs to be fun again. Give him a extreamly strict contract with a very low buyout. I think he would take it. He would have a great staff. I think PF could control him and quite frankly enjoy having him here! It would be the ultimate middle finger to the Haslams!!!!! Just DO IT already...before someone else snags him...

Here’s the only way Kiffin works IMO.

From a coaching perspective, he can definitely coach. He knows the SEC and UT. BUT, I would structure the contract very pro-UT. IE a contract that starts at a lower salary, say $2 million and then escalates over a six-year period. Buy out is not based on remaining contract so if we choose to fire him the buy out would be low. Then if he leaves before three years, he would have to pay back ALL the salary earned during that time, or more. Last, obviously no buyout for any NCAA violations AND he still pays back his salary.

Gruden till its not!

I think Freak's been hacked. Likely by Bubba's supercomputer.

1) Don't know....nobody does.
2) my disappointment over Gruden would be short lived, replaced quickly by excitement over hiring the most qualified individual we had publicly shown interest in. Miles hits all of my tick marks....good recruiter, SEC experience, beat Saban, beat Florida, winning record, SEC Championships, National Championship. What's not to like?
3) I don't know about the staff, but it would excited me to see Tee back, and Kevin Steele would be a coup. Not sure how many others would come, but those two combined with Phil would be enough Orange blood to re-instill some pride and Tennessee values back into our depleted program.

can't say i disagree.
really, really, really, hope gruden takes it tho.

gruden = bases loaded, bottom of the 9th, down 3, grand slam to win game 7 of world series

miles + tee + steele/chavis = home run

better than the crap sandwiches we've been served since lane left, and the crap sandwiched offered last week.

I'd like it if Fulmer would stay at least 50 miles away from Haslam for the next week. Peyton Manning, too.

I just dont understand the whole Gruden mess. If he wants the job...then lay out your demands and lets meet them! If not....go public and let the fans off the hook gently! He has only had 5 years to mull this over....it cant be that hard of a decision!!

So, I was out for a few hours. Nothing of substance has come through regarding Gruden?

If I could get anybody’s opinion:

1) has PM been involved with the JG deal?
2) if not, has PM alignment w/Haslam made the JG deal harder for us to get done?(JG has less interest without PM involvement)

I’ll hang up and listen for your thoughts....

I think the #cometogether movement by Coach is a way to say we are wiping the slate clean and moving forward. Whether it be fans, workers in the AD, boosters, or VFLs.

I think Fulmer has a subconscious desire to see Miles land another coaching job. The parallels between Miles/LSU and Fulmer/UT are striking. Both very successful championship coaches unceremoniously fired and then not wanted by any other big name programs. Fulmer always knew that he had more left in the tank if only given the chance. He would probably like to prove that through Miles.

Hopefully he will override those tendencies in order to see a top 5 recruiting class, instant national recognition, and 100,000 at the spring game. Gruden is the only coach that wins the short term battle, and it's guaranteed. There are no guarantees with any coach's long term success.

THIS^SOON! Gruden to the Hill!!!!

I don't know about Vol Colonel, but I have seen he is quite pompous on twitter.

He acts way more connected than he is. Not sure if you all remember but a few months back there was a rumor that Willie Nelson had died. He is the one who tweeted it out and said it was confirmed by someone close to Willie. Obviously it turned out to be false and he caught all kinds of hell (rightfully so) on Twitter.

As it relates to Gruden, this is where I see a potential problem. Hypothetically, PM aligned with Haslam. A supposed booster war placates Haslam. PM not aligned with said booster group. Gruden doesn’t do the deal without PM in the circle of trust.

he wouldn't. i don't want tucker as a HC either, seeing his name as someone to be interviewed gave me a rumble in my stomach to be honest. but getting Sam Pittman in the deal would make it not totally suck.....lol.

One thing to remember (as I try to be the voice of reason)

There was a regime change in the UTAD last Friday. That means some that had access before, might not have access now. And those that might not have had access before might have had doors opened. Sources change as the leadership changes.

Basically we may have to re-vet many of the media sources and what we're hearing to a limited extent. I'm not calling out anyone specifically, but we have to be rational that information that once might have been good might not be so good at this point.

Yep...the Colonel is for entertainment purposes only.

Not sure why? If he's the chivalrous, orange clad knight in UT armor he's been received as, you'd think you'd want him RIGHT THERE to be firm about the way forward and look the 'enemy' right in the face.

I'm personally a fan of Phil's but I'm on the fence as to where he sits in all the politico muck.

No way Manning is standing in the way of a Gruden deal, sorry I am not buying that unless there is SOLID PROOF, not just internet gossip. Going to have to see proof of that. No way in Haiti.:rock:SOON! Gruden to the Hill!

What if it it Miles and Tee as OC/AHC and then 3-5 years later Miles retires and Gruden wants to coach?

Regardless of what Pickens says he won’t ever let Gundy walk. It’ll never be better than Gundy at State. Every time his name comes up for X job and every time he gets a raise.
